The physical ESS override switch in the JL is an integral part of a circuit board module. It is not connected with wires. Most folks would not want to start messing with the electronics on a circuit board, esp. on a new(er) vehicle.
Not entirely true. The SGW disable hacking hazard is true for the Tazer because as you say it bypasses the SGW. The SGW is NOT bypassed or disabled with the SmartStopStart. I do not have knowledge or any other manufacturers device.

Even with the system turned off, the aux. battery will always be kept charged. This is an AGM battery, so it is more tolerant to cycling than a standard wet cell battery. That said, NOT cycling should have the effect of actually improving the life of the battery.
For those who are considering the AMP Power Step, the XL model is SO MUCH nicer looking on the JL and completely covers the pinch-weld. It also provides a bit of protection (but these are not serious off-road steps in any version). Personally, I have them and love them.

I have the Mopar slush mats and it does not interfere. The mount has a lot of adjustability. You have to adjust it during installation so it does not interfere with the seat forward/backward handle for your preferred seating position.
