I'm hooked on his show. Watch every episode. However, he put his Rubi on its side driving on slimy northern Quebec gravel roads. I'm really impressed how he recovered, with help. That Rubi and its tires have really served him well. Frankly he's a hero of mine, the way he travels. I'm wishing...
It's time. Tire changeover time.
Darn Jeep tires are heavy, and they are in my basement. I've recovered from a broken shoulder; however, I'm weaker than I was. I'm not much good lifting anymore.
How do you handle your tires? Do you have a dolly or device to take them upstairs? I have a...
I *think* that dealerships test drives are part of the problem. It was in my case. We gave them the TSB when we brought the Jeep in and told them the symptoms we have.
They pick a test route that is smooth, has good sight lines, and they likely won't have accidents and insurance claims. The...
There's a post from JeepCares here:
click on the icon--you can PM from there where it says "Start a Conversation"
Others use @JeepCares However I've not contacted them that way.
Hope this helps.
Our steering gear has...
Do you know how old your tires are?
Had some Pirelli's go bad overnight. They were ok then unbelievably bad.
There's a code number on the side of tires. It shows the year of manufacture and the week in the year.
I'm really grateful that we have the new steering box installed. It's so much better. The benefits are huge. And if we had had any little issues they can be solved. But advice is to get it done. Later there will be longer waits for this new steering gear.
Some people here have...
Your post helped a lot! (our first service appointment at the selling dealer failed. They refused. I believe the cause is that the test drive was too slow, and too short. It didn't show what we complained about. Yes. We gave the dealer a copy of the tsb with suitable notes. This was...
told the dealer that refused to do the TSB that our Jeep was unsafe and they would be mentioned in court action. If there wa an accident. Wrote on the warranty order that work wasnot done, and Jeep was unsafe. Thisshoulf be a recall.
TSB is a technical service bulletin put out by FCA.
It's not a recall.
There are other posts...some other people have had the steering gear replaced in their modified Jeeps.
We had it done. It's much improved. We had the same symptoms as you in our stock Jeep. When we had problems with the...
If you adjust the steering gear too much, it starts to bind and the steering wheel won't return-to-centre.
Before you start note the first position. of the adjuster and nut. Make a *small* adjustment, tighten it up and take a test drive. That may be all you need. If it's not enough, do it in...
You were better off than we were.
We took the TSB in and told them how it applied. Left the Jeep all day. End of the day they said no to doing the work.
we had words and left.
at home we took the card from the dash cam. 6 minute drive. Parking lot. City roads that were smooth with no...
The dealer that sold our JLU did the same thing.
Hind sight: They took it out for a test drive. 6 minutes. smooth roads. low speed. They should have taken it out on the highway.
Second dealer installed the new steering box. it's much better than before.
We now have the new t s b steering box in our '19 JLU...it needs to have the new steering box adjusted a tad. It's so much better than the old Aluminum box. There is a vague spot on centre with ours; however, we have return-to-centre.
Sounds like yours needs an adjustment too.
One year ago we said, "it's the steering gear" in conversation with service at the selling dealer. They said (of course) "It's a Jeep Thing"
A year later another dealer replaced the steering gear as a result of this tsb.
Still a dead spot on centre. Not as large perhaps. It could be better.
I had to get FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care help after the first dealer refused to do the work on the tsb. 1-800-465-2001 is their phone number. JeepCares helped me too, by giving me the link.
Suggestion: check your power steering reservoir too. See if there is enough fluid in there. They...
Thanks for the update! Enjoy!
We were told a year ago that "It's a Jeep Thing" It's finally in to have the steering gear replaced.
Our 2nd dealer has been excellent, and we've had help from FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care.
I've read through this entire series of posts and it's been so helpful.
