  1. CarPlay stopped working...Arghhh

I’ve had mine since June 2018 and never had a problem. I use an Anker braided cable, not that it matters. Anyway, try rebooting UConnect. I do that with a Tazer, but you can also yank the fuse (F97, I think). If that doesn’t fix it, I’d bring it in for a warranty claim.
  2. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]
  3. AGM batteries- hydrogen gas?

Oh, it was deader than a doornail. GM has OnStar, which is pretty neat... it emailed me to let me know the battery was dying a few days ago. I put it on a tender and let it fully charge, but it still couldn’t crank the engine. (Odd thing is that my multimeter shows it has 12.6 volts. I guess...
  4. AGM batteries- hydrogen gas?

Not a Jeep specific question, but our JLs do come with AGM batteries. As sealed, “maintenance free” batteries, do they still have the same explosion risk as old school flooded batteries? Why I ask: I had to jump start my wife’s Yukon, yesterday, and it has an AGM battery. There was no...
  5. What aftermarket battery are you running?

Heh. That guy needs to switch to decaf.
  6. What aftermarket battery are you running?

Dang. Did some more digging and the consensus seems to be, “used to be great, now they are unreliable.” Luckily I did a “ship to store” order that I could cancel with no penalty. I’m going to put an Interstate in the GMC, instead.
  7. What aftermarket battery are you running?

I just plunked down $300 to replace the battery in my wife’s Yukon with a Yellow Top. I have never tried this brand before. Fingers crossed that it is worth the premium price tag!
  8. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Cool, but that was an upgrade and not a [needed] remedy. When/if my stock clutch ever needs replacement I’ll certainly consider centerforce (after they identify and solve the Chewbacca growl, which I’m sure they will - they have a great reputation). My point was simply that one does not have to...
  9. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

I wish I could predict lottery numbers as well as I predicted the outcome of this thread... it died, and the guys who jumped to centerforce as a solution are now dealing with Chewbacca sounds. Now that the hysteria has subsided, I went ahead and got this done. I dropped off at 9:00 and my Jeep...
  10. Heat in winter in north east

CT resident with the premium soft top, here. Heater is great. You won’t have any issue.
  11. Trustworthy dealer service department in CT

I gave you my vote for Fitzpatrick’s in the other thread, but I’ll post it here in case someone else wants to +1 (or say that I’m crazy and that they suck).
  12. JL Frame Replacement Process & Pics

I don’t know why people are flaming your reply; it’s spot on. OP was involved in an accident that was not his fault. Many states now have “diminished value” payouts for this exact situation. Regardless of how well the Jeep is fixed or if OP ever intends to sell it is moot. Grab that cash if it’s...
  13. Rear differential bearings are defective, less than 500 miles

I’ve had great service at Fitzpatrick’s in Ansonia. If you’re under warranty, that’s where I’d bring it.
  14. JL Frame Replacement Process & Pics

^ This. I’d file for a depreciated value payout and then trade that one in. If you plan to drive it until the wheels fall of (or, more likely, until your new frame rusts out) then I guess it doesn’t matter...
  15. Parasitic draw

@WranglerMan has a whole thread on how to measure. If you don’t have a dashcam or other accessory, it’s safe to assume UCONNECT is the culprit. The manual even says to disconnect the power if the Jeep will sit. I bet if you pull fuse F97 you’ll see the draw disappear. Anyway, a tender is the...
  16. Manual transmission parking method?

As a kid I almost got run over by my neighbor’s car while I was mowing the lawn. That’s right, mowing the lawn... she parked her manual transmission Suburu in neutral and the brake failed (or more likely wasn’t pulled up hard enough) and it came barreling down her driveway and into our yard. It...
