Agree 100%. I don't even have any complaints with them off road either, although I drive mostly on open desert or trails. Don't see myself trying to negotiate boulders or rock gardens at night. Other benefit, is that nobody really steals halogen lights, although LEDs are an easy/popular target...
Thanks again...I just received the gas cap and it is in fact genuine MOPAR as you stated. One thing to note, is that most modern vehicles have siphon-proof gas fillers, so gas theft isn't much of an issue anymore. I just prefer a locking gas cap to prevent vandalism by a$$holes who insert...
Thanks for all the great info! Amazon says it will fit my 2021, so I look forward to ordering...finally. Just a couple questions:
-Is this a genuine MOPAR part?
-Is this the video you watched from Quadratec?
Really appreciate the info.
So glad to hear about someone who actually got the key-matched gas cap! Been trying to order this since I bought my '21 Sport. Early on, several dealerships told me that keys made for pre-'21 Wranglers were old, standard "cut" keys and those from '21 on were laser engraved. Apparently, even...
Had this same question regarding a sealed jug of Pennzoil 0W-20 engine oil that had been on the shelf in a hot garage for over a year. Customer service advised not to use it due to the potential for oxidation. I had never heard of that before, but went the safe route and just bought a new jug.
After decades of driving all manner of CJs and TJs, none leaned as bad as my '21 2-door JL Sport. My stock configuration leans about 1/2" to the passenger side, regardless of fuel level, and I agree that it is pretty annoying and looks like crap.
Two dealerships said that it is normal when...
Love my BF-F8HP because I can use it for Ham, FRS, MURS, and GMRS. Even though it is a handheld, it can easily be configured as a vehicle-mounted mobile unit, and I've even paired it with a 50'-high ground plane antenna as a base station. Been amazed at what a $60 radio can do, but will...
Agree 100%. Been driving all manner of Jeeps for decades and have had a similar experience. Best ones were those with the least amount of computerized witchcraft, including Willys MB, M-38, CJ-3B, and early CJ-5s. As I've said elsewhere in this forum, my current JL will likely be my last Jeep...
While I agree that performing one's own maintenance is always better, it's just not realistic for most owners, whether due to lack of expertise, tools, space, and/or time. If service departments or third-party shops weren't available, most people simply wouldn't be able to own a car.
Unless we...
Agree 100% about wrenching on one's own vehicle, but the added complexity with OP's situation is the future supportability of the Eco-Diesel. If parts cease to exist or take months to deliver, then it doesn't matter who's doing the maintenance. Obviously, this is much less of an issue with the...
Many thanks for sharing your experience, although I'm sorry you had to get rid of your beloved Wrangler. It's a tough thing to do, but I would have probably done the same, even after decades of loyal ownership. Future supportability of a short-run, discontinued engine, coupled with poor...
LOL...no. I don't think there's a need for anything like that. Was just asking what sort of indications we could expect if the filter wasn't installed. Perhaps odd engine noise, abnormal oil pressure, erratic engine performance, etc.
Exactly. Seems we always discuss the other common errors that happen when we let others do our oil changes, but this one is never addressed. I have heard of this happening in other vehicles with cartridge-style filters, so while it probably doesn't happen often, it is still good to know what...
So...while changing the oil in my 3.6L today, I got distracted when some neighbors came over to chat and almost forgot to install the new oil filter before putting the housing cap back on. Pretty stupid, especially because I'm super OCD about any maintenance I perform on my vehicles.
This got...
Got it, thanks!
FWIW, all four of my bolts were snug, but still well under the torque spec. I never thought about these bolts loosening over time, so glad I discovered this thread. Thanks OP!
As much as I hate to admit it, I never drove my 1980 CJ-5 in any salty conditions whatsoever, including winter snow. The old girl was a survivor in excellent condition, and the steel sheet metal on those Jeeps seemed to rust much more easily than on modern vehicles.
Since my JL is probably...
