  1. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

No, the first engine likely threw a rod and put a couple wholes in the block. The second one started smoking on Hells Revenge so he turned it off and then just clicking from the starter when he tried to restart. The electrical issues from the dash picture started a week before the failure in Moab.
  2. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

See post #151 regarding the bolded bullet point. That one confused me as well. That photo was a week before his Jeep "wouldn't start". So electrical issues before the outright failure in Moab, and then again while in Moab. Unclear if electrical problem is related to the smoking or if that...
  3. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

Kind of what I was thinking. Oil blow back would normally cause black smoke, wouldn't it?
  4. My first attempt at Hell's Gate

I find the front camera not nearly has helpful as I thought it would be. It is generally not good for identifying lines when rock crawling. I have to get out and survey if I don't have a spotter. HOWEVER, where the front camera really shines is on the slick rock going up steep climbs when all...
  5. Help confirming my lift???

I'd guess the lift is 2.5 - 3.5, but with no extra weight it netted more. Also you need to consider most advertised lift heights are based on Rubicon height so a 3.5 inch lift on a Sport or Sahara is really much closer to 5. I just had a MC 3.5 GC installed. I have custom bumpers, but...
  6. Lift install cost

When I first scheduled mine I had ordered a 2.5 GC. I was quoted $1350 for the lift and all geometry and allignment adjustments. The driveshaft install was quoted $150. The following Monday I called and upped it to the 3.5 GC with the DB3 Drop Link. The DB3 added $225 to get to my total...
  7. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

Ok, Serpentine isn't/wasn't the problem. If that was the problem you wouldn't have been able to drive for a week, let alone all the way to Moab. So you were having electrical issues and overheating issues a week before you went to Moab. Why didn't you bring it into the dealer that had just...
  8. Another Death Wobble Thread, I think... I'm sorry

My plan was to do tie rod, drag link, and steering stabilizer, probably the MC Fox kit, when I go to 37s in Jan or Feb. Now I just hope I can wait until then. Will do it earlier if necessary, but would like to wait. It hasn't done the DW again since the second time I reported last week. I...
  9. Re-gearing… please ELI5

I have a 2021 6MT JLUR. I ran 35s on the stock 4.10s for the first two years. It wasn't a speed demon by any stretch, but it was perfectly acceptable. It had no issues cruising 80 to 85 in 6th on midwestern interstates. Through the rockies on I70 in CO it held speed pretty well in 5th...
  10. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

Was this before or after the breakdown in Moab? In your OP you said your're Jeep broke down and wouldn't start while in Moab. The engine was clearly running when this photo was taken: Tach not at zero, engine temp is warm, above normal even. When did the "clicking" when you tried to start the...
  11. no power steering, battery is too low,the fan does not work.

But you didn't mention a fuse problem in the other thread until several pages in. You brought up Oil blowback (called it oil backflow) in your OP. I asked you "Where on Hell's Revenge..." because there's only a few obsticles where oil blowback could even be a remote possibility.
  12. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

True, but they are easy ascents that take only a couple minutes at most. Normally, to get oil blowback and the associated heavy smoke you need to be at a very steep angle for an extended period, and working the engine hard. That can occur on some of the obstacles, especially the hot tubs, but...
  13. no power steering, battery is too low,the fan does not work.

Didn't realize it was the same person that posted about the 2nd engine dieing. I'm confused, I thought it was at the dealer already? Either way, the symptoms listed in the subject indicate an issue with the serpentine belt.
  14. no power steering, battery is too low,the fan does not work.

I would say your serpentine belt is failing, or completely broke. You're not charging so all electrical is running directly off the battery. You need to get it to a shop before your battery dies, or you'll need a tow.
  15. (update)New engine, it broke again a month later.

What part of Hell's Revenge did your jeep die on? Hell's Gate? Escalator? One of the hot tubs? Or just the trail itself?
  16. Lift install cost

I'm interested in seeing your quote. I just had a 3.5 MC GC with DB3 Drop Brackets and front driveshaft installed 3 weeks ago. My install charge for the lift and DB3 drop brackts was $1575, plus $150 for the driveshaft install. That was the out the door cost including alignment, geometry, and...
  17. Another Death Wobble Thread, I think... I'm sorry

I think I may have found the problem. There is some play where the drag link connects to the steering knuckle. It's kind of tough to see in the video, but if you turn up the volume you can hear the sound it makes when I move it back and forth. I would say there is about 1/16" of play. I...
  18. Another Death Wobble Thread, I think... I'm sorry

I have a 2021 JLUR. Bought it brand new, now has 40k miles. Also I just had a full MC 3.5 GC lift with all control arms and both track bars installed 2 weeks ago. Until the past couple days I thought Death Wobble was the constant front end shakiness caused by looseness in front end...
  19. My first attempt at Hell's Gate

The spot where this guy gets in trouble I believe is the spot you're referring to when you say your line was sub optimal near the top, where you lifted your front passenger tire a little. In that spot you want to be more on the passenger wall. You can see in this video the spotter is telling...

You bought the Rubi for a reason. You only live once. :)
