Anyone with the diesel consider upgrading the cooling system? I wonder if there are any radiator manufacturers that have some more robust options for those that are modifying these rigs with bigger wheels, heavier loads etc.
Zach, it might simply be the way you drive.
I have never overheated anything at elevation with the exception of slow walking pace hard core single track. It's not what a Wrangler owner wants to hear but how about changing your driving habits?
It's unacceptable to have a stock vehicle that...
Take it back to the dealer ASAP. They get one more chance to fix it or they are required to buy it back under the lemon law. Believe me they know this and it is almost 100% it will be fixed right on the third try.
I was just using some dark humor to lighten up the thread. Sorry you took me seriously. I'm pretty sure Hawaii and Puerto Rico are the only 2 places in the states that grow coffee beans.
You have to remember that Brad (Trail Recon) lives on a huge coffee bean farm in San Diego. Coffee was his bread and butter long before his YouTube channel.
Well stated Aldo. Your shop at least is now aware of the axles exclusive to FCA. The Dana 44's on the Rubicon Wrangler JL's are very odd indeed. You can't just slap in a set of off the shelf Dana components and expect them to work. They have to be made specifically for the factory Wrangler.
As...
It's an easy fix. Figure out the interest rate increase dollar amount over the life of the loan. Then simply have the finance officer discount the vehicles price by that dollar amount. It will not be a problem at all. As an added bonus you will be financing less so your vehicle will be...
I like both of their channels up to a point. I just have to tune out of some of these YouTube channels sometimes because it becomes an infomercial for products and lifestyles that are way beyond my pocketbook, needs, and desires.
What bothers me about the diesel in a Jeep is the added...
My 2005 GMC is a prime example of the EPA insanity. Base 1500 with 4.3 V6. The stock gearing was 3.25. It could not pull a hill in 5th gear empty. I now am running 265/70-17 tires and 3.73 with TruTrac. Boy what a difference and the fuel economy went up over 3mpg.
Yes
If the fluid is at the correct level to start with then what you drain out in weight can be put back in. It's a simple procedure that does not need to made made more complicated than it is. Temperature controlled module opening and closing has no bearing on the drained and filled amount...
If that is the case then go by temperature this time and weight on future servicing. That is spooky that a transmission is low fluid from the factory.
Easy way to check. Get it to operating temperature and pull the fill plug. if it's at the top then you are good to service fluid by weight...
If you have not serviced your transmission before a little tip is to weigh the fluid coming out and replace it with the same weight going in. This is much easier and accurate than volume and using temperature as an indicator.
I recommend doing the service yourself. It's no more difficult than...
I'm not sure on dealer cost but my Lexus at the local mechanic I trust was about 300 bucks total parts and labor. Just under 5 quarts of fluid required. OEM Toyota WS is about 15 bucks a quart and OEM filter is about 50 bucks. Shop charge is $120.00 per hour last time I had a vehicle repaired...
