Agree with you on the t taps and the wire nuts.
For the typical DIYer, my sense is that the likelihood of properly soldering a joint is much lower than that of properly crimping a joint (and please don’t use one of those dimple crimpers!). I certainly don’t trust my own solder skills, but I...
While soldering will certainly work if done right, a proper ratcheting crimper with adhesive lined heat shrink connectors is likely a better solution. There is a reason that is the way most electrical systems on boats that are done to last use crimped connections.

I own a 50 year old 34 foot sailboat — a piece of classic plastic. It made the whole Just Empty Every Pocket thing much easier to accept. If you can put “marine” on the label it adds a zero to the price.
Have a two week old set of the Desert Does It “Shorty” Seat Jackers for sale. A little too tall for my liking. In excellent shape. Don’t have the instruction sheet anymore, but that is available online and it is a simple install. $75 gets them shipped anywhere in the lower 48. PM me and...
Well, nobody ever showed up with a picture of what this would look like, so I took the plunge and bought a tan OEM top off of a forum member. Finally got it installed today and am very happy with it.
Got the front windows tinted to match the others, and also had the exterior detailed to buff out the pinstriping I picked up in the Pine Barrens. Local one man shop did a great job.
EDIT: Meant to post this in the "to" thread, not the "with" thread, but it will have to live here I guess.
I am 6 foot 1 and didn’t notice any issues getting in and out with the lower mount, but I haven’t used them much. I also have the ball mount being used to hold a radio, so the upper mount won’t work for that for me. I kind of like the look of the upper mount though …
Yes, I believe so. The website was a bit confusing when I ordered these, because they talk about both mounting positions and at the time I at first thought you had to choose before ordering. But there is only one way to order them. I mounted them low, but pretty sure you just swap sides to...
Well, Mike is on Long Island (as am I — great mall crawling here!), so that probably makes him a “traditional” New Yorker. We aren’t all so bad …
Drove from NY down to College Park, MD to pick up a kid from UMD and decided to take the scenic route and go explore the Pine Barrens. I was solo, and this was the first time ever taking the Jeep off-road, so I took it pretty easy and bypassed a number of mud holes that I am pretty sure would...
Took the doors off for the first time. Lovin’ it. CMM mirrors worked great. Tan soft top will be going on soon, but have a long drive to make in 2 weeks to go pick one of the kiddos up from college, so waiting on that before installing.
