  1. Jumperless Aux Battery Bypass

SSS and/or Tazer are fine. (I have both, and currently running with the Tazer.) You should not have any error messages. Something else is at play. I’d start by charging your main battery with a *good* charger (must be 10a or better for the main battery).
  2. Soft Top window storage recommendation

My first hand experience: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/mopar-soft-top-window-storage-bag-review.13235/ Still love it after nearly 5 years of use.
  3. Who has 30K miles or more on their JL and hasn't had any problems?

2018 2dr, 6sp Rubi. 52,000 miles. I had the head unit replaced under warranty after it bricked itself doing an update. Also replaced the main battery. (My AUX is bypassed.) That's it!
  4. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

What’s your gear ratio? I have no issues doing this with my stock clutch and I have a very steep driveway. I have a 2dr Rubi (4.10).
  5. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

No, it just says letters will go out in April. I wouldn’t expect to see recalls getting done until late summer/fall based on timing of previous ones.
  6. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Great info. This is what we need to hear about the offering from @Actman (I do like his comment that "the best way to describe our clutch is that you won't think about our clutch.") What I, and I suspect many, don't want is to install a "performance" clutch and then ruin our daily driving...
  7. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Please, please, please post a review if you go that route. @Actman, do you have any review videos? Saw the install one and it is absolutely fantastic.
  8. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Can you also compare with Centerforce’s offerings? You’re at the same price point, but their kit also replaces hydraulics. People here sing the praises of CF’s heavy flywheel, but the fact is that most of us DD their Jeeps. I’m not looking to add rev hang and a leg workout to mine, and am eager...
  9. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

I really hope I get to eat some crow, but am very doubtful that we’re getting new clutches.
  10. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

I don’t think the letter will indicate what the fix is. It’s just going to be a hard copy of what is in the Jeep app and NHTSA website. My $0.02.
  11. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Serious question: why do we only hear about Centerforce on this forum? I’ve yet to see a single review of Southbend, for example. Edit: even YouTube has nothing for Southbend. I did find this for ACT, though.
  12. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

The ā€œfixā€ for the first recall (W12) was not available until fall of 2020… the NHTSA announced the recall was coming in March 2020. I see from my records I had it done in October. That fix was just a plastic sleeve. I’m an admitted pessimist, but I’ll eat my shorts if they have a fix for a...
  13. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

I don’t see how they could just replace the pressure plate. If the fix is hardware, and wouldn’t we all be tickled if that’s the case, they will have to replace the whole clutch. I just don’t see it happening. For the first recall they had a parts shortage for the stupid plastic sleeve. I have...
  14. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

Considering there is a stop sale on new ones, no. You still have to do this recall. šŸ˜‚ There’s no chance. They will slap on another bandage.
  15. 2-door back seat use

Need another option: always in and tipped forward. That’s how I roll 95% of the time.
  16. Clutch Recall (2/23/23): Clutch Pressure Plate May Overheat -- Affecting 70,000 Manual Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators

You should install the Jeep app. (Also handy to record maintenance you do on your own. e.g. I log all the oild changes, tire rotations, etc.)
