  1. Adhesive tape suspension parts?

It’s not a necessary part, it’s superfluous. If its presence bothers you, rip it off.
  2. Hidden Falls in April?

Thanks guys. Things are going surprisingly well so far, so hopefully by fall it’ll be a non issue and I can spend more time on the trails. I’ve got an excellent medical care team, that’s one of the things Houston is great at. And also a great personal support team of friends and family. I’ll...
  3. Hidden Falls in April?

For me wheeling trips in the short term future will be rare and sporadic unfortunately. I’m undergoing chemotherapy/immunotherapy every 4 weeks until at least July for non Hodgkin lymphoma. Sometimes they schedule hydration or other things in between. But when I’m able to again , I’m on it.
  4. What (if any) add ons can be put on a factory JL steel bumper?

Winch Winch protector Lights. Lots of lights.
  5. Rock crawlers: what’s your most useful mods and why?

Yeah, not really concerned with whatever plastic you guys are arguing over regarding skids. I’ve got Artec aluminum, they’ve served me well and I’ll stick with them.
  6. Rock crawlers: what’s your most useful mods and why?

Are they faster than using a 4 way hose inflate/deflate system? I hook all 4 up and deflate simultaneously. Or use a valve core remover and dump them really quickly but only one at a time
  7. Rock crawlers: what’s your most useful mods and why?

Sone good information given, thanks. I’m asking specifically about physical vehicle modifications. I’m hoping to get to something that I haven’t already done. I feel weird when there’s no more mods to do.
  8. Rock crawlers: what’s your most useful mods and why?

If you’ve modded your Jeep with getting over rocks as your goal, what specific mod or mods has turned out to have the most benefit for you? Why? What you’ve you bought or done that you might skip next time?
  9. Set my expectations: Downsides to Jeep ownership

Lexus GS350 F Sport and F150 Supercrew. The GS is leaving to make way for an RX350 as soon as it arrives at the dealership. On the test drive I set the driver seat as far back as it goes and sat in back. Not luxuriously roomy, but I can sit with my legs straight forward and still have a little...
  10. Set my expectations: Downsides to Jeep ownership

We have vastly different definitions of comfortable. I’m 6’2”. My nephew is the same. There’s no way one of us can sit behind the other comfortably. Fortunately our wives are about 5’3” and 5’5” and it was no picnic for them. My Jeep was stock when I bought it. Given the lift and other...
  11. When did dealers service centers start treating customers like an inconvenience?

You peons still giving Spirit/Frontier/Ryanair your money deserve everything you get. Pay the extra $100 for a real airline or stop complaining. Save $100 on the ticket, but then pay a $150 fee to carry on your wallet. Makes sense. :) The CEO of Ryanair actually submitted a plan to European...
  12. Set my expectations: Downsides to Jeep ownership

This forum is the absolute worst for that, although most automotive forums are. You ask for downsides and almost everyone replies with what they love instead. They’re conditioned that way, can’t help it. Your thread isn’t nearly derailed though until it takes the obligatory turns through...
  13. Set my expectations: Downsides to Jeep ownership

As I mentioned before, consider renting one for a few days or a week. If rental companies near you don’t have them, check Turo. Drive it in all the situations you might normally encounter - traffic, highway, road trip, rain/snow, nighttime, etc. It might be perfect for you and what you want. It...
  14. Found a great place to put my air horn. Bully by Hadley Under top plate on the 392 just had to make a bracket. Never gets wet.

I know the PERFECT place to put that air horn but it’d probably be very uncomfortable. Grow up.
  15. When did dealers service centers start treating customers like an inconvenience?

I’m of an age and disposition that whether a vehicle is “boring” or “ugly” ranks very low on the “do I care about this when spending $50K?” scale. Many non Jeep people make the same valid argument about Jeeps. Same front end, same simplistic boxy shape for 80 years now. We are waiting on the...
  16. Set my expectations: Downsides to Jeep ownership

OP, you didn’t mention what vehicle you’d be leaving behind. That makes a difference.
  17. When did dealers service centers start treating customers like an inconvenience?

Thank you! For every apologist crying the FCA/Jeep has no control over how crappy their dealership network is, I ask why do they allow it if they don’t condone it? Lexus dealerships are independent of the brand as well. I’m sure someone here has a story of their friend’s bus driver’s second...
  18. When did dealers service centers start treating customers like an inconvenience?

That’s not bad service, that’s just how it works. Some dealerships provide loaners, but many don’t. Most luxury brand dealerships will provide a comparable loaner and many offer concierge services where they’ll pick yours up and drop off the loaner at your home or work. Jeep is not a luxury...
