  1. Out of commission due to cold

I got a lot of help from the breeder. He treated these puppies right. She's used to old people, men, women, kids, toddlers, and other dogs. She sees a new person who might pet her, and gets excited. Life has never shown this dog any cruelty, and I'm going to do what I can to make sure that...
  2. Out of commission due to cold

I loved Reina with all my heart, and I will never be able to remember her without a tear in my eye. It's hard to be sad when I have such great times ahead. Reina was an amazing dog, and everybody loved her, but Daphne is probably even more amazing, and everybody loves her too. They're both great...
  3. Hunting out of JLU

Fair enough. As it happened, I never saw a hair on a white tail's ass all season anyway. I need to get a crossbow or a black powder rifle. Too many hunters during rifle season, even way out there. Plus you can hunt downtown with a crossbow, and that's where all the deer are during rifle season...
  4. Out of commission due to cold

On the dog front, it seems cruel and cheap on some level, but the only way to get over a death is a new life. I had been looking for Foofy's successor for a year, because she was old. I tried countless Great Dane rescues, who all refused me for one reason or another. I tried countless breeders...
  5. Out of commission due to cold

    Ain't THAT the truth.
  6. Jeep snobbery - RANT

Not around here. I applied to all of them, and they all rejected me. Oh well.
  7. Out of commission due to cold

The good thing is nobody saw it coming, and I don't think she did either. She never acted like anything was bothering her, other than arthritis. Until she did, of course, but then it was only a matter of hours. I haven't been without a dog in my adult life, and this is so weird. I never finish...
  8. Steering issues- GONE!

I don't have any problem with the factory stabilizer so far, except for the fact that it's extremely rusty, and I don't trust it. The other stuff, I think all the ball joints are more sloppy than they should be, and I just don't feel very good about any of the factory parts. I was happy to yank...
  9. Steering issues- GONE!

My steering is still great, feel wise, but it's clunky (as in noisy clunky from things thunking that probably shouldn't ought to thunk), and all the clunks are going to add up to death wobble eventually. Sorting this out is not my immediate priority, but I've been eyeing things for eventually...
  10. Jeep snobbery - RANT

Dad went bankrupt and moved into a trailer park. While riding through there, I noticed every shitbox had a nice ride sitting in front. People spend money on their car payment instead of their rent. The snobbery I notice around here is 2-door snobbery and soft top snobbery. If it's a JLU...
  11. Out of commission due to cold

Hah, and I bought the first new gun in many years, so there is that. At least one of the things that tapped me out was fun, at least.
  12. Out of commission due to cold

That's the one. It doesn't detect ice, it assumes ice after trying strategies to move a throttle plate that isn't responding as expected. If the throttle plate isn't doing what the throttle positioning sensor is telling it to do. Water could have gotten into the connector and frozen and pulled...
  13. Out of commission due to cold

I left my tablet in the Jeep and didn't upload the codes where I could share them. Seems fairly obvious. Something about throttle actuator blocked by ice. It actually said "blocked by ice." Something about RPM limit being imposed. Something about ABS sensors and engine rotation sensors...
  14. Out of commission due to cold

I went to run some errands Friday evening, to hit everywhere before stores started closing for the holiday. It was 0°F at the time, and the Jeep had been sitting for about eight hours. I didn't give the cold much thought with a 2021 JLU with the Pentastar. Modern, fuel-injected engines have been...
  15. I smoked my clutch today

It's kind of funny that this old thread resurfaced today. I re-geared to 4.56 since then, and went to 35s. I was parked up against that curb, and I decided to be an obnoxious asshole today, so I fired up the jeep, coasted backwards while slapping her into 4L, then I eased up to that curb, and...
  16. Advice: tire inflator or air compressor

Like I said, there is no hope. If anything was going to happen, it would have long before now. So what do I do about that? I just keep going anyway. Fuck it.
  17. Advice: tire inflator or air compressor

At this point I've just kind of accepted that it's never turning around. What do I do if it doesn't? Do I shoot myself in the face? That doesn't sound good. I'm not doing that. So how do I deal with it? One day at a time.
  18. Advice: tire inflator or air compressor

It has just been a really screwed up year. One big issue has just been money. My fixed costs are about the same they were last year, or even lower in some cases, but my uncontrollable expenses basically doubled. I had to cut back where I could. I guess the big thing is I've just been depressed...
  19. Advice: tire inflator or air compressor

I aired down a set of 32s and pumped them back up with one of those cigarette lighter emergency inflators. By the time I was finally done, the plastic housing was starting to melt, and all the metal parts were ridiculously hot. I had to run that piece of crap for, well, way too long. Maybe an...
  20. Tire rotation confusion....

My tires cost a fortune, and I cross them just like everybody else. I've been doing a 5-tire rotation whenever I can be bothered, about every 5k miles, and all five of my tires have been wearing very evenly so far.
