  1. drain in rubber floor mats?

I came back from a trip and was cleaning the inside- I saw online that you could pull the plug in the floormats and hose off the mats. Well my mats have the hole but didn't have a plug, I pulled the mats out and the carpet is continuous under the mats. So any dust on the mats just goes through...
  2. Cheap rear shelf for JLU hardtop.

Today I finally got some time to work in my garage and make progress on my cheap Jeep shelf. I like this for camping trips to give more space in the back for gear, and if I am alone and sleeping in the back of the Jeep I can put a lot of gear on top of the shelf leaving just enough room...
  3. compact travel tool set

I decided to create a compact tool set for travel since I go to remote places. I needed compact since space is at a premium whether I'm alone or with another person and I need space for clothes, food and camping gear. I wanted to pack the tools into a relatively flat package so they could fit...
  4. Utah Canyonlands- White Rim, Maze, Flint Trail, Dollhouse

Here is a trail report for White Rim trail and Flint trail. My cousin and I took my Jeep there mid-October 2021. The plan was to camp 5 nights, with some bad weather thrown in we actually camped 4 nights. We drove something like 300 miles offroad. You have to reserve campsites about 4 months...
  5. carrying extra gas?

I'm going on a trip in a month, from closest gas station to end of trail back to gas station is 200+ miles. This trail is about 1/3 pavement, 1/3 dirt road and 1/3 barely technical. With good conditions on pavement I can do about 340 miles between fillups so I'm thinking I need to carry at...
  6. lawnmower

I posted a thread some time back with a bumpersticker I found, here's another one...
  7. how to lock doors while inside?

How would I lock the doors from inside if I have the key inside with me and the engine isn't running? It just beeps at me and won't lock. I can manually flip the levers on the 4 doors but this won't lock the rear cargo door.
  8. somebody brought up TFL recently- I watched their recent comparison vids going up red cone

They were comparing Bronco Sasquatch with Jeep Rubicon 4xe and Land Rover Defender. The poor LR on its "street" tires didn't make it very far, but the real comparison was always Jeep vs. Bronco. The Bronco did well enough on its larger tires although their videos of one undulating section...
  9. Peasant???

I saw this on the back of a luxury SUV mall crawler pretend offroader made in another country. OK I'm cheap, I'm frugal, I'm poor, I have to work hard for my money, but does that make me a peasant?
  10. Anybody want to go to White Rim / Maze in October?

I have reservations for campsites and would like to have another vehicle tag along, at least for the part in the maze.
  11. Rethink Moab this year?

Maybe pick another state instead? I drove through Moab 2 weeks ago and found that they have a big road construction project going on from the middle of the city extending beyond the north limits of the city. I was stuck in a 1 hour traffic jam getting into town. If you go to Moab to do trails...
  12. cheap sleep system (for 1 person)

I rigged this for an upcoming solo trip. I bought a "folding foam topper" from Amazon for about $60 and used it with a 2' x 4' piece of plywood I had left over. The back seat is just folded down, the front passenger seat is pushed all the way forward and tilted forward. The space in the back...
  13. how level should it be?

I'm wondering how level a Jeep is or should be. I hear people talking about using spacers to level up. Somewhere I have measurements of my Jeep when stock. After installing Rubicon takeoff tires, springs and shocks I measured and from ground to lower part of wheel well opening is 1" higher in...
  14. Has anybody been to the Doll House? (Canyonlands Maze District)

This is one of the trails on my must do list. Earlier this week we did the trail over Elephant Hill. I thought I should start planning now.
  15. Elephant Hill?! (Bobby's Hole?, Beef Basin?)

Planning a trip to Moab in a couple of weeks. Current plan is to stay around Needles District, Lockhart Basin, may not even get into the town itself. If I can get a permit I want to drive over Elephant Hill, and then either drive back over Elephant Hill on the way out or keep going south...
  16. Utah Monolith?

Has anybody not heard of this by now? When it was first revealed the location was a secret to keep people from going into that remote area and getting lost. Well it didn't take long for people to figure out where it was and go there. Even though it was publicized as being a very remote area...
  17. for snow/ice- KO2 or Goodyear Kevlars?

I have the stock Goodyear Kevlars on my Sport, and I have a set of KO2 Rubicon takeoffs in my storage shed. My fall Utah trips have been canceled so I'm wondering if I should go ahead and have the KO2s mounted or stick with the Kevlars through winter. On the average we don't have that much...
  18. Anybody do Argentine Pass near Denver?

We were visiting relatives in Denver and wanted to do a trial. We didn't want to drive 2 hours out and 2 hours back so I checked the internet and found this trail less than an hour from Denver. The trail was rated "moderate", we were in my stock JLU Sport. Slightly above timberline we hit an...
  19. for those who ask about comfort on long trips

My wife and I just got back from a 2200 mile trip to Colorado in my stock JLU Sport. The Jeep drove well and was comfortable on the trip. It is very stable on the highway (except for areas with high wind). There is a little bit of wind noise but we could still talk back and forth and listen...
  20. I couldn't get it all in

Oil that is- I couldn't get all of the oil in. I went to the local parts store, bought a mopar filter and 5qt jug of oil. Drained the old oil out, cold, and went on with that. The oil that came out wouldn't all fit back in the puffed out 5 quart jug, lacked about half a cup. This was my...
