  1. DIY: Hardtop Interior LED Lights For Cargo Illumination During Tailgating / Camping

#5 Battery Box Here's the last part of the project with a 12v battery box to self power the cargo lights with Jeep off. The dimmer box plugs into this using a standard 12v lighter plug so the cargo light could be powered by the rear cargo port and skip the battery box as an option. For myself...
  2. Thinking about buying my second Jeep: need guidance from the Base “Sport” model owners

Adding to good comments here, looked at base model, but very happy to have the Sport 24S & hardtop package. With more drive through, and coffee everyday, power windows frequently appreciated along with power locks for shopping. (daily driver)

Thank you! A hands-free light is very versatile, under hood, as well as for camp reading. I have a head mounted light with magnifiers for machining and soldering and they are really useful.

    2. Swivel lights on roll bars (driver/passenger) Here is the next part of this project, and if interested in swivel lights in general. I would say of all the parts of the project in hindsight, these lights are kind of thin, the end caps that conceal the mounting holes slide on and off...
  7. DIY: Hardtop Interior LED Lights For Cargo Illumination During Tailgating / Camping

Here's a project for two bright overhead LED lights that fill the cargo area for night errands, and two rotatable rollbar mounted LED lights to either soft bounce onto the white hardtop surface for tailgating events, or rotate downward for direct reading lights with Jeep camping, or be...

  9. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

After making stitched headliners in front, for the summer heat, completed another (longer) DIY project of soldering, stitching and machining/drill/tap adapter plates for bright cargo lighting. In the center of hardtop are two lights on stitched liner. And attached two swivel side lights on...

  15. DIY hardtop liner?

That looks nice for the curve fitting. Did you make a template or cut to fit? If I had to make templates again, was considering bending solid core wire around the inner shape to transfer, but am on to the cargo area with straight lines.
  16. DIY hardtop liner?

It's foam that's used for sound insulation, but it's not mass loaded vinyl, a much better, though heavier, lb per sq ft, material I've worked with a lot for reducing machine tool sound and vibration. Not noticing anything subjective with just the driver liner overhead and not on the freeway...
  17. DIY hardtop liner?

Teaser pics, in progress DIY project, driver side installed with 3M tape; testing how that holds in 108 temp today and over the weekend. Two data points with infrared temp meter: Outside temp 107, ambient inside temp in cabin with air cond on was 89, measuring door panels. The new liner over...
  18. DIY hardtop liner?

I've been making/testing a headliner project with canvas over two layers of reflective foam, testing temps at stages. Will have pics and data complete this weekend to write up. The temps are high in AZ to keep taping it up each night to have something in place, to gather test figures. Also tried...
  19. Dead Pedal, single bolt attachment type.

The base plate to the Jeep has two bolts that attach the bracket. The way mine arrived it was already as forward as possible if the middle bracket is attaching at the top to the pedal as shown below. An option is to add a metal spacer in between the back plate and the bracket and use longer...
