  1. Anybody in Europe/UK pursued this? (TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel"))

Agree. They have just created a re-skinned Discovery with a few extra bolt ons. I don't see it as a successor to the old Defender in any way. Far too upmarket and with none of the DNA that made the old one so timeless. To be honest I am confused with the whole Land Rover line up nowadays. Far...
  2. Anybody in Europe/UK pursued this? (TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel"))

Agree, new Defender is very expensive and early reliability is not looking very good. Lot's of issues being reported on the Defender forum that I follow. I wouldn't consider buying one because of the price. If I returned to Land Rover it would be with either an older TD5 Discovery or possibly an...
  3. Anybody in Europe/UK pursued this? (TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel"))

Scratching my head a bit with his explanation. Surely the outer nut is just a locking nut to stop the inner hex adjuster coming loose? So the play would be taken up by winding in the hex adjuster and then the locking hut would be retightened. Unless I am missing something, shouldn't the locking...
  4. Looking for a UK Rubicon owner to check...

There was nothing in the menu options for the ESS on my 2018 2.2 diesel JLU Rubicon. Only the little green illuminated symbol to indicate when the ESS had cut in and I think a different yellow coloured symbol to indicate when the ESS disable button had been pressed on the dash. Not that I ever...
  5. Love/hate relationship has ended in divorce.

We've run a few old V6 petrol Mitsubishi Shoguns/Pajeros at our sailing club to use as tow vehicles for the dinghies and rescue boats. Picked up for little money as MOT failures. Mostly they have been very reliable although the rear calipers have a habit of seizing up from repeated reversing...
  6. Love/hate relationship has ended in divorce.

Interestingly they have dropped the 2.2 diesel in the UK and now only offer the 2 litre turbo petrol. I don't know if thy have done this to help with their overall EU emissions requirements or because they have had too many issues with the diesel. I also read that they plan to drop the 2 door...
  7. Love/hate relationship has ended in divorce.

So after 30 months of 2.2D JLU Rubicon ownership, I filed for divorce. Sadly, I have to say that I have never owned a less reliable vehicle in over 40 years of driving. My Wrangler spent many weeks stuck in various UK dealerships waiting for ineffective repairs with poor support from Jeep UK...
  8. UK 2.0T 2 dr alarm fault

There is definitely a bonnet trigger (twin plungers at the front right as you look into the engine compartment) I think one does the alarm, the other triggers a warning if the bonnet is not closed correctly). I am also pretty sure there is an immobiliser linked to the keyfob. No deadlocks that...
  9. Blocked DPF now sorted

Result. No more EML light. It needed a forced regen by the dealer and a sensor replacing. Back to normal now.
  10. Anybody know where these are from?

Good to know that the Wrangler assembly line is no different to the old Land Rover Defender line :CWL::CWL: Perhaps they are the cause for the numerous reports of vague steering 😱 (Only joking).
  11. Rubicon US bumper

I can't remember if you can deactivate them in the menu and I can't check right now as my wife is out in the Jeep!! The front ones on mine didn't work originally as they had fitted the wrong module to the vehicle at the factory when it was built. The module that controls both the front and...
  12. maps update for anyone in EU?

Yes, the lack of support is frustrating. As is the buggy vehicle software. Last weekend whist out on a reasonable length journey the MIL light came on and wouldn't reset despite a number of ignition cycles. No warning messages in the display. Then close to home, it went into "Limp Home" mode...
  13. Hello from Germany - Wrangler JL Rubicon 2.2 Diesel Granite Crystal Grey

Welcome to the forum Tobias 👍 Happy Jeeping.
  14. Anybody in Europe/UK pursued this? (TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel"))

Oh yes, I forgot about the alarm. I've had that problem as well. Two different sets of sensors and it still goes off for no apparent reason every now and then within a few minutes of locking. New Defender is tempting, but quite expensive to get one with a reasonable trim level and I'm not...
  15. Anybody in Europe/UK pursued this? (TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel"))

@ Howi. I know how you feel about losing faith in the brand. I've given up trying to get the ESS sorted on mine. Every time it goes into the dealers they tell me it's because I don't drive it enough, or the systems are drawing too much power, or, or ............ Fact is, it's a crap design...
  16. ESS still not working. Cold weather?

I agree with you UKJeep2018. It's the principle of it. Plus I bet the published fuel efficiency numbers are based on the thing working. (Not that the fuel efficiency would be top of the list when buying a Wrangler!).
  17. ESS still not working. Cold weather?

Mine has been at the dealers this week to get the rear heated windscreen replaced. Whilst there I asked them to look at the ESS system yet again. Same old story this morning when they called me to tell me it was ready to collect. The system has no faults but the batteries weren't fully...
  18. Rubbish MPG

At $2.39 a gallon it's a good reason to get the V8 392 though  Even at $6 a gallon, I could be very tempted to trade in my 2.2D if it ever makes it to the UK in RHD.
  19. Rubbish MPG

A bit less painful to enjoy the smiles per gallon in the US than the UK ;) A quick calculation on our gas pricing in the UK gets me to about $6 per US gallon :headbang::headbang::headbang: Am I right in thinking gas is around $2 a gallon in the US? It's one of the reasons I went for the 2.2...
  20. ESS still not working. Cold weather?

Doesn't surprise me !!! After collecting mine from the stealers back in January, they assured me the ESS problem had been sorted (which it hadn't). I drove it daily up to 10th Feb and it never worked once. I then put the batteries on charge for 24 hours and so far it has worked for a week...
