Thanks! It's just a typical hammock (in this case, an Eno Singlenest) hanging on a Bare Bones setup from McLean Metalworks.
Admittedly, I struggled to allow myself to buy it -- I can hardly think of something more unnecessary. And yet, wow! It's absolutely wonderful in every respect. I'd do it...
Your post convinced me to pull the trigger. I've been waiting for months for Twill to go on sale again and missing so much beautiful weather in the meantime. Ugh. Ordered at full price from Bestop via Amazon. Ouch. Pleasant surprise? Amex points paid for the whole thing! Woo!
I dropped by the local LR dealer to take a closer look, largely because I love cars and will happily paw at anything new and noteworthy. A couple of impressions:
The interior materials are really quite nice and seem like they’ll wear well over time.
The seats are pretty great with proper...
I’ve been curious, for those of you who are running the Sunrider on a 2-door, is there much buffeting when the top is open at speed?
I assume 4-door folks can simply crack the rear windows if needed to reduce buffeting, but obviously 2-doors don’t have that option.
There’s not enough space to stand the panels against the driver side glass. It’s due to a lack of front-to-back space, but also the wheel well intrudes and won’t allow something to sit upright against the side.
The weight of the seat is probably 40lbs? The weight isn’t really a problem. It’s...
Unfortunately, no. They'll lay flat if the seats are fully removed, but otherwise you'll need to stand them up on end behind the rear seats (thus the reason for the velcro straps on the back of the seat itself).
I know the height of the brake light is adjustable, but I don’t think anything else about the stock spare holder is adjustable. I didn’t make any modifications to mine and it seems just fine. Maybe the spare is a smidge further out, but you don’t notice it if so.
