  1. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

A truer post hasn't been made! For a minute there, I felt like life was back to normal ... when I could worry (i.e., relish) about some insignificant Jeep thing. Kinda got my mind off things for a bit and focus on this recall. Actually, the only reason this recall concerned me in the first...
  2. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

My creaking kind of went away on its own. In my Jeep's younger days, I was actually having two different creaking noises -- one from the pedal assembly itself (which was resolved with some lube) and one that came from outside / behind the firewall / under the engine. My dealership was never able...
  3. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

I just made an appointment for this recall, but it sounds like it's a pretty involved job. I was told it would take a few hours just to see if it needed a full clutch replacement ... and if that's the case, that would require an overnight / multi-day repair. Since I'm in the middle of a move to...
  4. Easy to moderate Washington Trails

As others said, this is a tough time because of A) snow and B) COVID closures. I can't speak on current conditions, but I've explored some neat forest roads just east of Bellingham, some of which might be mostly snow-free right now. Sumas Mountain might be one possibility. Best access is right...
  5. Aftermarket windshield durability poll

You guys may be right. I just looked online to get its cost; I didn't confirm its availability for JLs.
  6. Aftermarket windshield durability poll

I recently rented a new Wrangler, and when I got up to highway speeds it had a pretty bad whistling wind noise -- a noise I've never heard in my 2018 JLR. Then I noticed that the windshield had recently been replaced. This makes me wonder if it had a gap, which caused the wind noise. In other...
  7. Best place to live?

True, the cost of living is higher than the national average (COL 100), though it's lower than most West Coast cities of its size or larger. COL index of Bellingham is 121, Seattle is 172, Washington state average is 118, Portland is 130. Real estate is the biggest problem around here (it's...
  8. Best place to live?

The population of Bellingham is only 90,000. Crime here is better than average; mostly petty crimes. We do have a homeless problem, kind of like most places these days, but it's nowhere near as bad as Everett, Seattle, Portland, etc. I live close to downtown, and we do have car prowls of...
  9. Best place to live?

If you can put up with some periodic rain, you might consider Bellingham, WA, which is 20 miles south of the US-Canada border (and about an hour south of Vancouver, BC), and 90 miles north of Seattle. Some of the best cold-water sea kayaking is right out your door -- either on Bellingham...
  10. Got the V41 recall work done

Just had my V41 work done, along with an oil change. When I got home I took a look at the new damper and noticed the sticker with the arrow pointing the wrong way. Got on this forum (which is the best thing ever) and got my suspicions confirmed -- that it was installed incorrectly. My...
  11. Vacation/road trip question

I got my new Jeep just a few days before a planned, 900-mile road trip to Utah. I knew break-in miles are suggested, but instead of just driving our other car to UT (boring), I decided to drive the hell out of my Jeep -- around town and beyond -- before the trip. Easily put a few hundred gentle...
  12. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

I'm surprised so many people are having their entire rear windows replaced for this solder problem. After noticing one of the two wires detached from my rear window's heating elements (passenger side), my dealership sent me to a local auto glass place, and that place cold soldered the heating...
  13. Anyone getting a custom vanity license plate?

OK, I'll take my idea a step further, just so you can see how it would look. And I fixed the rear-window sticker. ;)
  14. Anyone getting a custom vanity license plate?

Since it's red and you live in Florida, you could name it Blood Orange. Or, since it's red and you're a Star Wars fan, you could name it Darth Maul. Or Maul Crawler.
  15. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

Wow, I didn't realize how many others have had this same problem. Just the other day I noticed my rear defroster wire was detached from the solder, so I took it to my dealership. They sent me to a nearby auto glass shop that they work with, and I got it fixed there in less than 10 minutes. They...
  16. Cheap Jeep Hacks! Show 'Em Off Here!

Not sure if this is only a 2-door issue and/or with specific seat positions, but when I drive with my windows rolled down all the way, my seatbelt flaps incessantly. After figuring out where the noise emanated from, I stuck a large piece of sticker felt on the B pillar wall, and the noise...
  17. Jeeps in Snow... post pics.

Silver Island Mountains, Utah (in between the Nevada border and the Bonneville Salt Flats), last month. Beautifully serene, but scary remote.
  18. The clutch gang!

My JL does this as well. I also found it to be odd (though I only notice it at low speeds and in quiet situations, like right after taking it out of gear and coasting to a stop), but I think it's normal. I hardly notice it anymore.
  19. Check in here if your steering is good. Tight, No wander, No Wobble

Approaching 15k with no problems. Steering seems calibrated well for both on and off road performance. No death wobble, either, and I've hit some good bumps at high speeds, including some while going 85 mph on I-80.
  20. JL Manual Transmission (Scraping)

Tex117, I think this is the thread you're asking about: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/6spd-manual-rattle-grind.8444/#post-357700 I think I've experienced the exact same thing you describe, but I don't believe it's a mechanical problem. I think it's just a quirk of this...
