  1. 12 volt or USB Always on?

I use the CoolTech PowerPoint to keep the cigarette port always on. Helpful for charging overnight on camping trips.
  2. 3.6L, 8 AT, 37”: 4.88 or 5.13?

Picked up my JL today, had 5.13s installed. On the drive home, going 50mph it was in 8th. Weird. Haven't seen that since stock. Something else- I have a very steep driveway. The only way I could go slowly up after stopping is to load the torque converter until it has enough power to move and go...
  3. Pictures of camping with your Jeep

    Sunrise in central Utah.
  4. I laughed at all the 392 buyers! 😥 what a dummy.

I would spend $75k on a new 392 if it came with D60s, lockers and a 4:1 transfer case. It doesn't. I'm not buying an overpriced JL that I have to put another $25k in to keep from breaking things because of the extra torque.
  5. Anyone getting a custom vanity license plate?

I changed mine years ago when I realized someone just had to type my call sign in Google and get my name and address.
  6. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

No, not that simple. You need to purchase or make a harness that goes all the way to the battery. That is 2x 10awg wires for positive, 1x 8awg and 1x 18awg for negative, and 1 wire if you want to wire it to the aux switch. Jeep Generation has a great YouTube video how he wired it, using the ARB...
  7. Best way to carry extra gas?

You need to decide what is best for your Jeep. My friends and I go on a week long trip at least once a year. Carrying extra gas is mandatory. I would really like the Long Range America tank, but it is very expensive, and it looks to me like it hangs lower than the stock fuel tank. That doesn't...
  8. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

This week I added rock lights. Fixed the rear bumper lights to work on either a switch or when in reverse. Clearanced the crossover exhaust to fix the rubbing on my Artec skid. I has a bit hard on it my last trip out. Added an ARB compressor and MORE mount. Still need to order a custom...
  9. Jeep fire - Gladiator(?) pulling large trailer

It was a 1 ton truck with a Gladiator body pulling LiteBrite's Ultra4 car. The cause is said to the the fuse box. They posted the news on their IG.
  10. Fox 2.0 TS stabilizer & stock steering

Still waiting. Got an email from the vendor today saying Fox was waiting on a small part and it will be another 3 weeks.
  11. Fox 2.0 TS stabilizer & stock steering

The Fox 2.0 TS has been backordered since November. I'm still waiting. I got the JK version with the 1.5" clamp because it fits the Synergy tie rod. It won't fit the stock tie rod. If you want to use it with the stock tie rod you need to find one for a JL. Then when you upgrade your tie rod you...
  12. Yet another sleep platform progressing nicely

Very nice. I wish I learned how to work with wood. I just cut mine well enough to get it to fit.
  13. Hard rock skid plates - heavy heavy

I have LOD sliders and the Artec underbelly. There was only one bolt that they shared. I had the LOD slider mount cut and rewelded 1/4" lower to accommodate the skid.
  14. 3.6L, 8 AT, 37”: 4.88 or 5.13?

37s, like everyone else In all the research I've done, I haven't found anyone who wasn't happy with their choice. I'm probably splitting hairs at this point. I don't plan on going to 40s on these axles, so I don't have to worry about that. I don't tow with my JL- I have a large SUV for that...
  15. 3.6L, 8 AT, 37”: 4.88 or 5.13?

I made an appointment with my local shop to get my JLUR regeared. The owner is recommending 5.13s. He seems to think my Jeep will be in 8th gear more on the highway with 5.13s than 4.88s. Maybe it is a regional thing, the higher altitude here, more hills, or maybe the 80mph speed limit. I don't...
  16. LOD Destroyer rear bumper / tire carrier

The issue is with larger than stock tires. The middle sensors sense the tire and sets them off.
  17. LOD bumpers anyone?

I have the LOD with a 37" spare mounted on it. I have had 2 gas cans (~40lbs each), Hi-Lift (20lbs?) and spare (130lbs). Most of the time it doesn't wobble, and when it does, I just have to readjust the adjustments. If I was a bit smarter, I would use some blue Loctite. I don't worry about it...
  18. Cooper tire recall

Thanks- I didn't look hard enough.
  19. Cooper tire recall

I wonder if this was divulged before the Goodyear merger? recall The article isn't real specific, other than 430,000 truck tires made over a year's time. Includes the Discoverer; I've got STT Pros.... on bead locks. Usually takes me 2 full days to swap tires, not my idea of fun. Hopefully my...
  20. Beadlock regrets? am I overthinking it? please talk me out of it (or in to it, whatever you chose)

If you need beadlocks, you know. If you don't need them, don't get them. I've had beadlocks now for about 20 years. They are heavy, and a lot of work to mount. No tire shop will do it, some 4x4 shops will. For many years I couldn't find a tire shop to balance them, now Discount Tire will do it...
