  1. What side steps / rock rails to add to JL Wrangler?

They look great. They're really strong too. I had them on my JKUR and a scrap truck lost a big ball of steel.... like a crushed washing machine... that rolled into the side of Jeep, bouncing it about half a lane over. Just a scratch and a little ding. If I had only the Rubi rails there...
  2. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

I did pop the little tab out for the repair. However, I didn't use epoxy. I used silver electronics solder, a butane soldering iron and soldered the tab back to the window. Risky because the glass gets very hot and could easily shatter, but it holds much better. Once the tab was soldered back...
  3. What's this?

    That makes more sense. LOL
  4. What's this?

The bag is definitely for the manuals. That much I know. The little parts I believe have something to do with either the hard or soft-top but I have no clue. I meant to ask, but did you also get your tool kit? I've seen where some people don't receive it with the vehicle.
  5. Lose != Loose

So, I got behind this dump truck and laughed my @$$ off. I mean, if you can't have A+ Quality... maybe A-Quailty is close enough.
  6. FIX for key fob key opening in my pocket every ten minutes.

I did the same thing but with leather. It's more luxurious than paper.;)
  7. What side steps / rock rails to add to JL Wrangler?

I don't think that's possible given how close the SRCs fit to the body. They would be trying to take up the same space. Also, that would be a lot of extra weight for no reason.
  8. 2020 Wrangler JL Recall - lower control arm bracket and weld

I totally understand the "it's a Jeep thing" for what it really means. It is as you describe. I love Jeeps and have since my first XJ back in 1993. I was using the phrase a bit out of context as people are taking the JLs back in for steering issues, death wobble, etc. and getting told that's how...
  9. The Important of Painted Fender Flares on Stock Jeep

With Sting Gray, I love the painted flares.
  10. 2020 Wrangler JL Recall - lower control arm bracket and weld

Agreed. The main thing is they cover it and dealers quit saying, "It's a Jeep thing." That slogan wasn't meant to cover poor design and execution. I think with the JL there were many missed opportunities to make a great AND quality vehicle starting with their DFMEA/PFMEA activities. I mean, for...
  11. 2020 Wrangler JL Recall - lower control arm bracket and weld

FCA/Jeep owns the quality of all of their purchased parts. We all bought a Jeep, not 30,000 individual parts from 300 suppliers. Sure Dana should get a bad rap too if their fault. All OEMs have supplier quality programs that, if done correctly, prevent a lot of the stupid stuff we see on the...
  12. Proximity Entry not working

Yep, I would go to the dealer. It sounds like something could be messed up in program or a messed up connection between the handle sensor and the lock actuator.
  13. Proximity Entry not working

There are tons of settings in the UConnect menus. Have fun learning them.
  14. Proximity Entry not working

Checking all your fuses is a mandatory step in JL ownership. Beyond that, I do not know if there is an option to turn it on/off in UConnect as mine was working from the day I picked it up. Edit: Looks like there is a setting. From the UConnect 8.4 settings: Passive Entry — If Equipped This...
  15. 2020 Uconnect 8.4 Navigation off road question

The UConnect maps are stored in the system and updated periodically. Most backroads and even some driveways are programmed in. In the national parks it even shows some limited access service roads/trails that are not for everyone. I can't see why anyone would need a Garmin unless you are...
  16. Rear window defroster unsoldered?

Mine held up through yesterday and now it's for someone else to worry about if it lets go. Unless Jeep brings back a modernized, yet true to the classic version of a Grand Wagoneer, I have reached the end of my Jeep trail.
  17. Jeeps parking next to Jeeps... post yours!

I was temporarily parked behind this one at a traffic light. Completely stock CJ-7. Unfortunately, my camera focused on my Jeep instead to the CJ.
  18. water coming in when doors are open when it rains.

I just wipe across the area above the door with my hand to remove the water puddled up there before I open it. I've had other cars with inadequate rain gutters and am used to having to do that. Then I open the door and get in without the trickle of water pouring in at the same time.
  19. Rear windshield wiper switch

Does the window sticker show it came with a hardtop? If it came with a hardtop from the factory, then yes. If the dealer swapped the soft top off of yours for a hardtop from another Jeep then no. Dealers do stuff like that a lot without thinking it all the way through.
  20. Rear windshield wiper switch

They are great inventions. If your vehicle has one you should try it. It's like a defroster for dirt.:like:
