  1. Yea yea off roader BUT who enjoys driving their JL onroad?

Like sitting upright, the visibility out the turret-like cabin, pulling off the freedom panels, high ground clearance and ruggedness for potholes, and most of all my 6-speed manual transmission even creeping in slow traffic. I’ve owned sticks since my first 72 Dodge Demon 3- on-the floor with a...
  2. Stop/Start Not Ready-Battery Charging

After owning my JlU 2018 Sahara 6-sp for 3 years and 30k miles, since it’s not my daily-driver, I now keep it on a battery maintainer. The stop-start is always ready after the engine warms up.
  3. Backup Cam Guide Lines Gone

I earlier indicated my backup guide lines disappeared after the Y07 update, they were gone but now are back working normally, doing nothing but the vehicle sitting 6 days. Odd. Problem likely not related to the Y07 update.
  4. Backup Cam Guide Lines Gone

Odd, my backup camera lines always worked perfectly until the recent firmware upgrade for the clutch slip detection (Y07). Or, it may be coincidental that it showed up after the update. On my 2018 JLU Sahara with 6-sp man. for three years it worked flawlessly. Since the firmware upgrade, now...
  5. How Many Miles on Your Manual Transmission/Clutch?

I have 30k miles on my 2018 JLU Sahara six-speed. Had sleeve recall and firmware done. So far no clutch problems 98% highway/city 2% easygoing off road. Never had slippage, chatter, etc. Consistent feel to clutch. Like having current gear displayed above odometer on center screen (new...
  6. How Many Miles on Your Manual Transmission/Clutch?

Try turning off the Hill Start Assist. It grabs onto the brakes for a split second to avoid rolling back. It may cause jerky starts. Settings>Safety and Driving Assistance > Hill Start Assist
  7. Early buyers - Is your JL 3 years old yet?

My JLU Sahara 6-sp manual is a 2018 built in late 2017. It was an FCA corporate unit I purchased as "Certified Used" from the dealer with 12k miles. I have 27k miles on it. Other than the two batteries failing prematurely (replaced under warranty) and the first clutch recall (hose) and...
  8. Heated Seats and Steering Wheel Issue

I have a 2018 JLU Sahara with a 6-speed manual and DANG U-Connect still doesn't have an option to turn off Auto-On comfort. With the automatic transmission, it can be disabled; however, no such option on the manual transmission models. So each time I start the Jeep when it's 40F or less, I...
  9. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Update: My 2018 JLU Sahara 6sp (23k miles) in for the W12 recall, is now back on the road after waiting 2-weeks plus at the dealer. the needed part (low pressure reservoir hose) arrived and the techs got right on it today. The clutch works well and passed the tests. The friction point...
  10. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

My Wrangler has been sitting on the dealer's lot for two weeks awaiting a simple part, a low pressure reservoir hose from FCA. Word to the wise, wait a while before taking your Jeep Wrangler in for this recall, there may be a parts delay! The dealer went to install the sleeve, and reattached...
  11. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

I also wonder if the couplings on that Low Pressure Reservoir Hose were designed to be "one-shot" and not detached and reattached. Couldn't FCA have the dealers use generic reinforced bulk hose and a couple of tiny hose clamps?
  12. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Any word on availability to the dealers of the Lower Pressure Reservoir Hose or even an estimate as when repair parts will be in the system? My dealer took mine apart to install the sleeve, reconnected the hose and it leaked. They have it in limbo waiting for another Reservoir Hose and I've...
  13. Show us your CUSTOM MODS!!

2-meter Amateur Radio home made antenna bracket! Since the surfaces are all fiberglass, plastic, or aluminum and a magnetic mount wouldn't work, I made an aluminum bracket (covered in black heat shrink tubing) for a standard NMO antenna mount to hang off the spare tire. I ran the coax up to the...
  14. Stop/Start Not Ready-Battery Charging

My JLU Sahara 6-sp Manual was an FCA demonstrator that I bought "Certified Used" from a CJRD dealer and the Stop/Start would only work after several days of highway driving. It would always say "Battery Charging....." I ignored it since I didn't like the feature anyway. At a long stoplight or...
  15. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

I entered my VIN on the Mopar recall web site, clicked the W12 recall, and it came back "Page not Found" error. Perhaps FCA has pulled it down since April 22 has lapsed and it seems like no new information is forthcoming about the scope of the work to resolve the clutch issue.
  16. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

How could a light clutch pressure result in a system that overrides friction to provide positive engagement of the clutch surfaces when the clutch is engaged? I wonder that as well on my JLU 6-sp. The last vehicle I had with a manual was a 2002 F-150 (5-sp, 4.2L V6 2wd) and its clutch required...
  17. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Three things I'm going to do until FCA issues parts/repairs: 1. Drive it in 4th/5th instead of 6th on long straight stretches. 2. Drop down into 4L and crawl out of steep tight spots that I would ease out in 2H or 4H. Stop, then engage 2H after getting to less taxing starting position. 3...
  18. Manual trans.only - allow setting seat heater defaults

My 2018 JLU Sahara 6-sp Manual - the heated seats and heated steering wheel automatically engage when it's below 40-50F and there is no option to prevent it. I start the vehicle, then scramble to kill the heated seats (default is to HI) and the heated steering wheel before it starts to get hot...
  19. Throttle Stuck on Rubicon

Dealer could not find a problem, error codes, or anything abnormal. They performed a refresh of the code on the engine (throttle) module. Problem has not reoccurred; however, it only happened twice in 5k miles. Fingers crossed it won't happen again.
