  1. After this Bronco launch, what team are you on?

Yeah, I saw an old, well-maintained Scout in a Raising Cane's drive-thru lane recently. I think it was actually a Scout II. I had to do a double-take, thinking at first glance and a few hundred feet away that it might be a new Bronco naked in the wild.
  2. Stripped a bolt.. f what do I do????

I recently saw a video online wherein a thick rubber band was put between the screwdriver and stripped screwhead. That made me think that a small dollop of 5-minute steel-reinforced epoxy putty could work, too. I was thinking you could use plastic wrap between the epoxy putty and the...
  3. After this Bronco launch, what team are you on?

Henry Ford was a Nazi sympathizer! LOL But back on topic...meh, I've no brand loyalty. I was actually a member of bronco6g.com before I joined this forum, thinking my next vehicle was going to be a Bronco. I am looking forward to checking out a Bronco at an auto show. These are the most...
  4. Locking lugs question

I guess these days "state-of-the-art" locking lug nuts are not just keyed, but also feature a spinning collar? That's the newest thing I've seen, and that's what came on my Jeep from the dealer. Apparently, they were losing spare tires on their Wranglers at night, so every Wrangler on their...
  5. Locking lugs question

But then, it takes a "ton of force" to loosen, and that can break the wheel lug stud. Years ago, I literally stood on the end of a 2-ft breaker bar trying to loosen lugs nuts that were over-tighted by a shop. I broke two of them. Yeah, they're cheap, and you can remove and press new studs...
  6. Secret Jeep activities for 4th of July

There's a couple of drive-up options for fireworks local to me. There's no leaving the vehicle except for bathroom breaks and food & drink buying. I was thinking of taking off the hardtop and throwing a couple of lawn chairs loungers in the back -but the thought of no beer with lawn loungers...
  7. KC cover decals

These look great. I looked on the KC-Hilites site, and didn't see them, figured they're an after-after-market offering? Would you mind sharing where you got them? Sometimes, thin white decals let colors show through, but these look like high quality.
  8. Sudden shadows at slow speed on a sunny day can cause ADAS Driver Assist to brake and break your Jeep?

I think legendary poet/philosopher/dreamer David St. Hubbins said it best: "I believe virtually everything I read, and I think that is what makes me more of a selective human than someone who doesn’t believe anything. " But on a serious note...If you're asking me do I think ADAS/AEB...
  9. Sudden shadows at slow speed on a sunny day can cause ADAS Driver Assist to brake and break your Jeep?

In a recent video, Scotty Kilmer shares the problem with a customer's Jeep (dunno which model). The Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) discussion is about 2 minutes long and starts 15 seconds into this video: It's not just Jeep he rails against, it's the whole philosophy of ADAS in the...
  10. EZTrunk looks interesting

So, on the eztrunk.net website, there's this photo depicting what, I guess, are parts of a typical Wrangler owner's day-to-day. Purse, I understand, phone, gun, laptop, sure, but combining those with a power drill, impact driver and angle grinder...I think a theft of some kind is being planned...
  11. Wrong parts in box TWICE - American Trail Products

I had something similar happen to me when I was trying to buy a Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop from Amazon. The first box had the JL part number on the outside, but the contents were JK parts, instructions, etc. The box did not appear to have ever been opened before. I returned that one, and got...
  12. Rollnjack Hardtop Lift

From the RollNJack.com website, their demonstration videos suggest you park your Jeep under the lifted top, it's a selling point. If you think you need additional support, that's a personal call. I live in earthquake country, so I use a safety strap when stowing mine: The strap isn't...
  13. USB Ports failing?

I get regular Uconnect disconnects, or UNconnects. I'm still trying to figure out if it's just the cable, or my old phone, an LG V20. I don't unplug the cables, I go to the Projection Manager on the Uconnect screen, and just select the device and it connects again.
  14. Wrangler goes airborne

Yeah, I know, right? That Jeep NAILED that landing, shiny side up. Judges score, "9.5".
  15. Found the rattle. Now what to do?!

Instead of vinyl electrical tape, how about fabric wiring loom tape? I took apart my old Xterra's dashboard more than a few times, and noted that the metal clips used to secure the pieces together were covered with a piece of fuzzy soft fabric tape - not exactly like fabric wiring loom tape...
  16. Aux Switches not saving Recall

Today I turned on all the AUX switches (I only have something connected to AUX4), set them all to latching, ignition, and persistent. I noticed AUX1 was off (persistent check box was no longer checked) after a handful of ignition cycles. Not a big bug, but it does make ya wonder what else...
  17. Aux switch ideas for JL/JT

I used AUX4 to control some daytime running lights: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/using-kc-hilites-cyclones-as-drls.52957/ Maybe worth a mention that the AUX switches seem to have a bug: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/aux-switches-not-saving-recall.49836/
  18. Do I need a matching spare?

I've had tire punctures away from home with every car I've ever owned. I think less than a dozen, but definitely more than a half-dozen times...and only once did the tire blow out and become unfixable. For the last couple of decades, I just use rope plugs and a compressor to fix tires...
  19. Sting gray blacked out

It's funny, but people are generally too nice - or thankfully, civilized - to ever say anything negatively judgmental about a person's ride. I mean, I've never looked at a (IMHO) tastelessly outfitted Jeep and felt the need to express my disapproval. :) But Sting-Gray (née Destroyer Gray with...
  20. Does the JL shift knob come off?

The OEM knob "justs" pop off, but for me, it took a stubby hammer, a couple of pry tools, a curse-word, and a few beads of sweat. I used (Harbor Freight) automotive trim removal tools on either side of the knob to get it started. Work them under the knob (use a hammer and tap, tap, tap, not...
