  1. Phone Holder Alternatives?

I have the BulletPoint system in my Raptor and the 67 Designs set up in the Wrangler. Both are expensive, very well built, and very stable. If I had it to do it all over again I'd go with BulletPoint in the Jeep too, as I found their bundling and pricing more understandable, sensible, and...
  2. 2021 JL with automatic, slams itself in park

Yes! Fortunately, engineers are working on various systems to avoid that sort of tragedy in the future, including a pig-mandible-disabler that all ranchers will be required to purchase and install on their livestock when the pigs are not actively feeding! :like: The cost of bacon will soar...
  3. 2021 JL with automatic, slams itself in park

I quoted the section above because I wanted to correct the misunderstanding I caused. My post wasn’t meant to disrespect female drivers. I have two sisters, both of whom are extremely competent drivers. My use of a female pronoun was a function of my failing memory: I incorrectly remembered the...
  4. 2021 JL with automatic, slams itself in park

I don’t think you get it. I’ll apologize in advance for the long rant, but this topic really hits a nerve for me… We older guys grew up in a world where one tragedy didn’t automatically result in government or corporate intervention to save us from ourselves. For most of us, all the expensive...
  5. Help with Exhaust Decision

X2 I modified my 2019 JLUR’s exhaust only because I wanted more ground clearance and reduced risk of crunching my exhaust. I dropped into one of our custom muffler shops and had a much better system welded up. Once the routing was done the shop owner offered to slide a variety of different cans...
  6. Cancelled my order

I bought a 2016 GC diesel new and it’s been the family grocery-getter and grandchildren wagon for five and a half years. It’s also our preferred ride for longer trips, particularly in winter weather, because it’s stable, comfortable, and fuel efficient, or at least it was before the...
  7. Just don't buy the 4xe! Please don't!

I understand this part. In fact, I think we all do, as we hear about COVID disrupting parts supplies on an almost daily basis. It appears the OP understands too, but he highlights the fact that new 4XEs continue to roll off the assembly line, so it appears that essential parts serve the assembly...
  8. New Jeep Owners: What was your last car, and WHY JEEP?

My 2019 JLUR is my 8th CJ/Wrangler. My first was a new CJ-7 in 1977. I’ve loved them all, but I grew up with Jeeps and never expected them to drive like a European sedan on the highway. I’m getting old, I’ve worked hard, and I love all things with motors, so I’ve owned a LOT of vehicles. For...
  9. 4xe - $12,500 proposed tax credit stopped my purchase

You guys need to stop looking for a rational or predictable path in US tax policy. There isn’t one. With few exceptions, most of whom are complete whackadoodles, politicians are human windsocks. Their positions swing instantly and wildly from moment to moment based on polling and their...
  10. Rubicon hood decals on a Sport

It Wouldn’t be fair to hold you accountable for the equivalent of a gag reflex. It’s not like you PLANNED to hurt his feelings. Putting Rubicon stickers on a sport is the equivalent of a guy stuffing socks in his shorts to get attention. I don’t do it, and I don’t understand it, but if others...
  11. Mojave Hood Swap for JL

Thanks for posting this, Kyle. For those who like a scooped-hood look, but want an alternative that is actually functional (and less than half the cost) the S&B cold air intake kit Is available, easy to install, and provides cleanable/replaceable filters.
  12. Any one know what brand of Fender flares these are?

So to summarize, the featured fenders are expensive, heavy, fugly, and take a long time to get, but at least they bend easily if you bump into them. I can't figure out why these aren't already on my Jeep!:giggle:
  13. Am I crazy for liking the stock Sport suspension?

The 2” MOPAR lift with longer LCAs has been the perfect solution for me. The off-road ride is better than stock, and it’s a gem on the highway at speed, even with 37s. (BFG KO2, so true size is closer to 35” than 37”) My 2019 JL is my 8th Jeep in 44 years, and this is the first time I’ve...
  14. Am I crazy for liking the stock Sport suspension?

That’s great news. I guess I’m not clear on the packaging options on the sport anymore — but the Dana 44 is a great upgrade! 👍
  15. Am I crazy for liking the stock Sport suspension?

I ran 33’s on my TJ sport and blew up the rear end at about 35,000 miLes. My experience wasn’t unique. (The Dana 35 isn’t great…) I took advantage of my miscalculation/misfortune and replaced the TJ’s rear end with a Ford 8.8 and re-geared to 4:56s. That was a great combination for that Jeep...
  16. TFL Tommy talks... Do I Regret Buying My Brand New Jeep Wrangler After Living With The New Ford Bronco For a Week?

I had two CJ5s in my earlier years. I remember them being harder to get in and out of because of the hump in the body panel that covered the back portion of the seat pan, but I don’t remember a difference in headroom. I suspect you’re right about aerodynamics and fuel economy playing a role...
  17. TFL Tommy talks... Do I Regret Buying My Brand New Jeep Wrangler After Living With The New Ford Bronco For a Week?

I’m good with the adjustment mechanism, but after 43 years of owning Jeep’s the JL is the first generation I‘ve owned that I can’t fit in properly. I have the seat all the way down and I still have to lean way down and left to see a stop light turn green… My head is only a half inch from the...
  18. Jeep steering is great!

The LCA's can help with caster if you're needing more adjustment than the present arms will allow, but I'm thinking that's a less likely culprit in an unlifted Sport. I'd want to look at your last alignment specs to see where it is and what if anything they tried to improve the steering.
  19. Jeep steering is great!

That's a good idea. Sadly, the first step for many is convincing the service writer that the steering problems aren't "normal" and beyond correction (regardless of what the factory will authorize under warranty).
  20. Jeep steering is great!

I did a 200 mile trip the day I took that video, and I was thinking about how to describe the Jeep's steering for much of it. The fact is, in terms of steering input and straight-line-tracking, it's not appreciably different from the new Dodge Charger I drive every day. The drive doesn't feel...
