  4. Jeeper shot and killed in Sierra County California

Some years back I was involved in creating counter-IED training systems, mostly focused on ground pounders. During the early years of the fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, EOD folks were responsible for much of the training - which was problematic as for EOD (god love 'em) the device was their...
  5. Went to rescue a friend, do I need to check my fluids and such?

Flux capacitors are usually buffered by linear negative optic flanges. The real issue is when cross beams go out of skew on treddle:
  6. Went to rescue a friend, do I need to check my fluids and such?

Blinker fluid is hydrophobic so less of a worry. The muffler bearings however - they don't like this type of abuse.
  7. Why Not A Rubicon?

as they say, "horses for courses." Like many here I find the Rubicon to be a well-spec'd vehicle off-the-lot given a mix of on and off-road (well, beside the red dash :lipssealed:). In my case, I just couldn't justify the price premium over the Sport S given other financial considerations. Mine...
  8. What kind of MPG are you all getting with the 2020MY?

About 2500 miles in, around 21 plus or minus. 3.6, have seen 26 on a tank of freeway driving, dirt and headwinds drop the numbers.
  9. My diesel arrived today but I'm not taking it. Up for grabs!

I bought my Sport S on Memorial Day weekend. Dealer had about 20 2-doors, and twice as many unlimited. Sales guy said they weren’t getting any more, still got a reasonable deal as it was a 90 day car. Looked at their site a few days ago and zero 2-doors. Still have Unlimiteds so those may be...
  10. New to Wranglers, trying to pick the best all around model. Looking for insight.

fwiw I could not justify the cost of the Rubicon over the first month with the Sport S. I've been using it as daily driver and we've had a couple of good/fun jeep trail runs - all bone stock. No, not rock crawling or extreme, but certainly trails that aren't viable with a standard vehicle. The...
  11. Looking for a little insight on going from a "performance car" to a new Wrangler JL

for me it was more about contextual speed. I club raced a ‘79 911 for a few years and top speed I ever hit was 125 at both LAS Vegas Motorspeedway and California Speedway. That really didn’t thrill me though - but doing about 50 mph through the corkscrew at Laguna Seca - now that got my motor...
  12. Wrangler goes airborne

wait, that wasn't in FL? the world gets more confusing every day...
  13. Just got road raged by a Karen

All one needs to know about the current psychology of the masses is to read random youtube comments. A lot of pissed off and stupid people in possession of a deadly weapon - their vehicle. For whatever reason the Jeep seems to keep my highway speeds down along with my blood pressure. One plus to...
  14. Doors Off Driving Just Impractical?

I don’t find motorcycle riding to be a great reference point, as I don’t wear a earplugs, helmet, and full gear when driving the Jeep. Well, yet anyway... :) Also very different turbulence. If your bike is set up right you get a smooth stream hitting the helmet. Topless in the Jeep I get all...
  15. Wrangler imagined as a Sedan

Vangler? kinda like if you crossed a Unimog with a Westy Syncros...
  16. Wrangler imagined as a Sedan

here ya go. Loaded it up with some magic mushrooms, I think that may help...
  17. Dogs in a 2-door?

just sell your couch in the house and use the backseat of the Jeep there. Though it is more love seat size than couch...
  18. Going from 2-door to 4-door?

I drove mine home from the dealer and removed the back seat. It sits in the corner of a spare room, never seen a butt. one good thing about a grown kid, the virus, and being anti-social. Most people the Jeep will ever see is 2 ( me and the wife - and she actually said “no 4-door”) :)
  19. STING GRAY Wrangler JL Club

umm...err...because, the internet? I love the idea of a Rubicon, but am realistic about how hard I likely will hammer off-road, and am trying to stay within a budget. I also come from the "more fun to drive a slow car fast than the other way around" school of thought, so seeing what I can do in...
