  1. What did you do WITH your Jeep today.

The Rubi tires are also much heavier and stiffer, the extra height creates more aerodynamic drag. In city traffic I can get much better mpg with a stick but after a few years of living here I got tired of having to "row" my way thrthrough traffic and we've now gone to auto
  2. GRANITE CRYSTAL METALLIC Wrangler JL Club

Looks great Jeremy. Almost the twin to ours, except I removed the "RUBICON". We're in Davenport.
  3. What is this wire?

A lot of vehicle components are made "one size fits all" as it's easier than making a dozen different variants and hoping the correct one gets installed on the assembly line. It's also more cost effective overall. This isn't the first "what is this mystery wire, terminal, plug..." thread I've...
  4. Best Setup for RV Flat Tow

I've put years and thousands of miles on multiple Wranglers now. I've never lost the little black air fitting cover that came with the AFO kit.
  5. Train horns on Wrangler JLU

Many here have installed compressors and tanks to air up after trail rides. In shopping for a compressor 100+ PSI capable ones are common. I'm thinking two birds... Install an air system usful on the trail, tap into it for the horns. Won't be cheap but as I've said many times, if it's fun...
  6. What happens to wrecked Jeeps

Old CJs or Wranglers never die. One persons misfortune just presents a project for someone else. Only the worst twisted steel catastrophes get parted out. You may do better looking for takeoffs. Perhaps align yourself with a couple hard core Jeep modification shops asking you be called about...
  7. E-Locker for M220 axle

On our last JK I had Eaton electric lockers installed. As they were not tied into the OEM system they could be activated independent of where the transfer case was. 2H, 4L or 4H I could activate one axle or both.
  8. JL Dana 30 & Dana 35 - how strong are they?

For what it's worth, I regeared my last JK Sahara with 4.10s and Eaton electric lockers. I hated the stock gearing, had been used to a Rubi with the 4.10s. Figured as long as we're in there, throw in the lockers. I stayed with the stock 31" tires, never had a problem. Mostly "light" wheelin...
  9. cooltech tow harness causing dead battery

It can't be the Cooltech, properly installed. It doesn't use power, just reroutes the source. Maybe something in your set up procedure? Your situation is not uncommon, not just in Jeeps. For piece of mind I installed the RVI toad charger. About $80 and 10-15 minutes to install. That will...
  10. Best Setup for RV Flat Tow

I simply use a red velcro tie wrap placed around the steering wheel when the switch is in tow mode.
  11. Top Speed in 4wd

A quick review of the owners manual - no speed limit listed for 4H, 25mph when in 4L
  12. Used Cooltech CB bracket to mount GMRS external antenna

You ordered the standard antenna and cable from Midland? No need for a 3/4" hole in the bracket?
  13. Best Setup for RV Flat Tow

You'd have to extend the 8 wires that splice into the Jeep wire harness - which runs along the right side. Not sure it would be worth the trouble.
  14. 2019 Jeep Wrangler | Long-Term Wrap Up Review by KBB

My comment on the trans is not related to its durability or smoothness but is directed more at the programming. One of your dash setting options is to display the gear you're currently in. It tends to hold onto the lower gears way too long in normal "non aggressive" driving. I think thats at...
  15. 2019 Jeep Wrangler | Long-Term Wrap Up Review by KBB

I do think the transmission frequently holds the lower gear much too long.
  16. Show the stickers / decals you've added to your Jeep Wrangler JL

Don't remember exactly but just do a web search for red clevis shackles and you'll get a few dozen options. Mine came with the rubber anti rattle fittings, they're removed so I can use the shackles as attach points for my flat tow safety cables.
  17. Show the stickers / decals you've added to your Jeep Wrangler JL

Actually, I removed some. Specifically the "RUBICON".
  18. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Removed the "RUBICON" decals. I've been mentally going back & forth since I took delivery last Halloween. I felt they were just a bit to "in your face". Obviously some here are going for that, LOL. Perhaps some day I'll replace them with something a bit more subtle, like the "miniature" 8"...
