  1. Anyone towed anything with their JL yet?

My regular weekend tow. Probably close to 2k loaded. Tows nicely, stops great.
  2. Steering wheel much is "normal"

No idea how many are like mine, but , knowing what I know now I wouldn't commit to buying one until I could test it at highway speeds.
  3. Steering wheel much is "normal"

Relax and go with it... Rofl! Not if you have the steering issue. Then it's relax and change lanes, or relax and drop a wheel off the road. If you can relax and go with it, congratulations (and I really mean that), you don't have the steering defect.
  4. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Glad you are getting a fix Chad. Interested to see if the new box cures it. I will say that my feelings for my dealer for completely blowing me off are rekindled!
  5. Jeep ignoring steering issues

One suggestion. I bought mine off the lot so I don't have an order date. Might be better to ask build date. I'm gonna fill it out anyway!!
  6. Anyone else addicted like me?

Yeah, it's addictive. The thing I like most about this forum is about the worse thing you will ever hear someone say is 'I wouldn't do that to mine, but if you like it, be you!'
  7. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Happy for you Jimbo. Sadly, air pressure doesn't help the floppy loose steering wheel those who have the problem deal with.
  8. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

I have a 2005 Xterra with 190k hard miles on it. It drifts, of course, and like you say I hardly notice that I am correcting for it when I'm not focused on the wheel. In the X though, when you move the wheel the vehicle changes direction. The problem with the JL when you have this issue is...
  9. What wording did you use to get a successful price from a local dealer?

I tend to over research the whole thing and come up with the number I'll pay for a certain configuration. I kind of enjoy the negotiation - well, the game where they keep tossing numbers on the table, I keep marking them out and putting my number on get the picture. At some point...
  10. Did you get the dealer to toss in any extras for free?

My sales guy and the 'closer' missed that they had dealer installed the step rails, gas cap door, grab handles and floor mats. I didn't miss them, so I don't feel like they were thrown in. But I did feel better about my deal when the closer came in and tried to add them back on.
  11. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

That's it! Thanks for the vid!
  12. Premium Softtop Rear Window Issue

My passenger side pops out on occasion. Maybe once a week.
  13. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Just got mine back from the dealer. As expected they didn't find anything wrong with it - no codes, nothing out of spec. They drove it 11 miles, then drove another one from the lot and said they were both equally all over the road. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. Perusing the threads...
  14. 285/75/r17 on stock JL Sport

Looks great! I've been trying to decide between just a tire upgrade, or wheels and tires. The stock tires on the Sport S are just too tame looking for me. This is great ammo for my debate! Now if I could only get the 17s from the JL onto the 16s on my XTerra (which badly needs tires) I'd...
  15. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Usually there are multiple machining stations as well, and different operators calibrate the machines back to spec at different deviations. So there are a lot of opportunities for some to be good and some to be bad. If I recall right mine was built in April. But driving down the interstate on...
  16. Loose steering feels like it has play and drifts

Mine hits the dealer Tuesday for the cc recall and to have the alignment inspected as a first step in getting this cleared up. My daughter has taken over my 2005 XTerra with 180k hard miles on it and her comment on first driving the jeep was 'I don't know how you drive this thing.' It's...
