  1. Car & Driver track tests 3.6L Wrangler vs. 2.7L and 2.3L Broncos

I’m at the EAA air show in Oshkosh this week, and Ford is a major sponsor. They have all their new stuff here, including about a half-dozen Broncos. My observation: They look good, but they are basically a mid-size SUV. They simply don’t have the unique character of the Wrangler. From the side...
  2. What is one of the most overlooked features of your Jeep?

Here’s a really unique feature…. In order to improve fuel mileage on my 2.0T, the oil pump actually has two modes. At high load conditions, the oil pressure is higher than at low power states. Check it out for yourself…bring up thr pressure gauge then go for a drive. This makes sense…why use...
  3. Is open Jeep a dying art?

WAIT, what?? You mean the top comes off these Jeep’s? Who knew?
  4. Secret Button Code?!?!

...and while we're discussing codes, I am sure there is a button-sequence to open the diagnostic function on these radio screens. Anyone knows what it is?
  5. Oil filter tip broke off

You need to fish out everything inside the filter chamber...looks like more than just liquid in there. Wipe down with a paper towel so you can remove any bits and pieces.
  6. Rubicon Suspension on 2-door Sport

Does the increased caster result in any bad repercussions...increased tire wear, etc?
  7. Rubicon Suspension on 2-door Sport

This item is over a year old, but help me out here.... It’s my understanding that increasing caster reduces the wandering tendency the JLs have, and a new pair of LCAs increase caster. So, seems like spending $80 for a pair of longer Mopar LCAs and an easy installation is time and money well...
  8. Canadian build Jeep in US questions

Glad this turned out well! 😊
  9. Can a JL WU be a good highway cruiser?

Binewt: Could you explain what you get for $80?
  10. Canadian build Jeep in US questions

I was under the impression that rental vehicle warranties do not apply to the second purchaser. I don’t think it’s a Canada~spec vs US-spec issue.
  11. has anyone cut in real hood vents?

You’ll want the fan running to move the hot air from the engine out the rear gap. Some kind of manual fan-override switch?
  12. What else do you drive?

The polar opposite of my JLU80...
  13. Auto windows (Up & Down)

This is why auto-up is difficult...a force sensor is required to prevent injuring a person or pet when blocking its travel. The driver’s window on my ‘16 Colorado would stop mid-way up when cold due to some minor binding causing a “sensed” end-of-travel.
  14. New York 68368853AA Mopar Z Case Fuse Array

How about a picture showing it...
  15. Curt Class 3 hitch on a 2021 diesel.

Why a Class 3? The frame geometry (length, strength, etc) still limits max tow capacity to 3,500 lbs. It’s not about engine power.
  16. 80TH ANNIVERSARY Edition JL Club Thread

The Rubicon also has a higher stance (more difficulty getting in and out), it has stiffer suspension (think ride harshness),, and weighs more (lower gas mileage). In reality, the Rubicon is more than what 80% of Jeep owners really need, but it has the "cred" that a lot of people want. Not me; I...
  17. 80TH ANNIVERSARY Edition JL Club Thread

At 2,500 odometer miles, I drove my JLU80 110 miles a few days ago with a 20MPH tailwind and got 26.5 MPG (everything bone stock, 2.0 Turbo, std 18" wheels/tires). Later that same day, I drove the return trip directly into that same (now) headwind. I did not reset the MPG meter, but when I got...
  18. Color Matched Hardtop only?

Why not just have the top painted black (with the appropriate sheen) at a body shop? Forget the wrap.
  19. Dealer wants $660 to change differential fluid

A little tip: Drive for 10 miles or so to warm the fluid and decrease the viscosity. Cold gear oil will take a long time to drain out.
  20. Towing baseplate for flat towing JL behind motorhome?

What brand towbar works with these Maximus loops? TIA.
