  1. Who actually takes their JL offroad?

    Great video and good times!
  2. Who actually takes their JL offroad?

It will stay that way as long as folks stay on the trail and don't go trail blazing. Allot of it is apparently private property. And in most of the areas up in there nobody private or otherwise want folks wheeling on tundra or on active mining areas. Great destinations Ouray and Silverton...
  3. Information on the automatic transmission at 60k miles

I kept and eye on engine and trans temp while running high country passes and rock crawling. I was amazed that both actually ran cooler than they do out on the open freeway at 70 mph. I was pleasantly surprised. We also have a complete Rock Hard belly pan which I thought may raise temps, it...
  4. Information on the automatic transmission at 60k miles

We spent a week running the San Juan's last week. Ive discovered the long down hills were where I decided to do a gear swap to 5.13s for 37s. Steep climbs were no issue at all, rock crawling no problem. But long down hills like corkscrew and engineer 2nd and 3rd gear would not hold and ran...
  5. Who actually takes their JL offroad?

We ran it August 14th. Its open and was a blast. Could not see where this block may have been.
  6. Information on the automatic transmission at 60k miles

I do miss a dipstick, that is real foreign to me. I like to keep track of that and gives you a chance to see if it is getting that off tint and burnt smell.
  7. Am I the odd person out for wanting/preferring a soft top?

We have Two hardtops and panels hanging around, one from a 2013, one from a 2015, They were removed and never reinstalled. We ordered our 2018 JL soft top only. Glad three of them are not in the way now. Year round soft tops is what we run on the 2013 and 2018. The 2015 was totaled in a T...
  8. Information on the automatic transmission at 60k miles

I hear ya and I do understand. I am a little torn myself. I am wanting to do this at 40 then plan again at 100 for the next swap. My 2013 has had the fluid swap twice now with good results but this is not the same transmission or converter as you stated. Your mechanic makes a valid point.
  9. Information on the automatic transmission at 60k miles

I think they mean dislodging debris that may have built up somewhere in the system. Personally I'm having ours hooked up and pump exchange the fluid at 40K, we frequently pull trailers. There is allot of mixed opinions both ways on this. Just draining the fluid out through the pan leaves too...
  10. For those planning to keep their 3.6L Jeeps for years: Story of 626k miles on Pentastar and still going!

My 2013 has only 160K . Full synthetic every 5k and have never gone over 6 between changes. I can only hope mine does that well. Cause I'm keeping it.
  11. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

  12. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

  13. 4th of July Poll. What kind of Jeep person are you?

Sounds like some sort of strange drink we used to mix in a mop bucket on those odd weekends in the barracks. The Corps did not allow that but they really didn' tmind as long as we shared with the Duty...LOL
  14. 4th of July Poll. What kind of Jeep person are you?

Being a former Marine (long ago). I love my country and will stand even today although not quite as straight and defend it to the death. AS for my wife and I we drive nothing but Jeeps and love them. Related to prior military service, I cant say. I worked on Jets and never rode in a Jeep in...
  15. No hinge bolts on your doors?! You crazy?

Third Jeep no bolts in doors practically since day one. Also Two hard tops still laying around, cant give the dang things away.
  16. Snapped lug bolt

Why not rotate them yourself. A five tire is quite easy, actually easier than a four tire rotation. One floor jack 15 minutes . You can also look at your suspension, breaks, and brake lines at the same time.
  17. Wow Moab trails may soon be taken over by oil companies

I was actually going to say "if it's still called that"....
  18. Wow Moab trails may soon be taken over by oil companies

Clearly you need sensitivity training. And the Chinese have purchased 100,000 + acres near Fort Hood Texas, and if they want to buy MOAB, just learn to share.
  19. Wow Moab trails may soon be taken over by oil companies

I saw a list online years ago (should have save it). I was shocked to see Eddie McStiff's restaurant on that list. I always enjoyed eating there when in Moab. I won't go near the place anymore. Let me see if I can hunt down that article. Would love to see that list.
