With the torque of the diesel and the trails you do, you could just leave it in 2WD. It will climb anything. If you get any wheel spin, put it in 4WD. I am amazed how little I need 4WD on even some rough stuff. Even less need for low range.
I kept my stock rims for 11 months. Ended up with a 2.5" lift and 37" KM3s.
I loved the way they stayed tucked in and kept things from landing on the hood. And they didn't rub with the 37s.
I just recently gave in to bronze. Now they stick out.
