  1. New JL Steering Issue TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel")

Sad. That was what we reported day 1 with our JLU. Took 1-1/2 years to get the new black steering gear in. It's a Jeep Thing. Heard that a bunch of times.
  2. Sky one touch rattling..driving me nuts!

They won't allow a passenger. Claim their insurance won't allow it. Neither dealer we use has allowed it. Toronto Canada. this happened with each service appointment. Last case was the service appointment required to set up the steering gear replacement. Gave them a copy of the tsb...
  3. Torque Values For Jeep JL Wrangler

  4. 2021 Steel Steering Gear Upgrade

    Really helpful Thanks for posting.
  5. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

In my case the Dealer's test drive was at fault. They drove such a short distance at such low speed! Yes, it was a Jeep Thing. The dealer that change the steering gear was a delight. I haven't been back to get them to show me the 70F Code. Should do that. We have about the same amount of play...
  6. 2.0 turbo making very loud noise when you step on the accelerator

Confession. I had an 85 Jetta turbo diesel. 63 hp with the turbo on full boost. No boost...49 hp max. Passing the main fire hall in spring. I heard a siren. I stopped expecting a fire truck. did that twice. I had my driver's window open first time in the spring. It was the little turbo...
  7. 2.0 turbo making very loud noise when you step on the accelerator

Excellent. Well done. Turbos are extremely hot. Have to do that when it's stone cold. edit: Jeep robot must not have eaten it's Wheaties that day when it was assembling your engine.
  8. 2.0 turbo making very loud noise when you step on the accelerator

Key is the loud noise that was described by the OP. I would have looked at the high pressure side of the turbo if it was mine.
  9. 2.0 turbo making very loud noise when you step on the accelerator

jl_explorer==here's the answer. A clamp was off or leaking between the turbo and intercooler.
  10. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

If they took it for a test drive, check out their route and speed. Mine at such low speed and on smooth roads that they wouldn't have spilled an over-filled open cup of coffee. Not a test drive,
  11. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

Solution is different where you live. We don't have a lemon law here. We don't have a recall anywhere. Thank heaven @JeepCares watches the forum. For US customers anyway.
  12. New JL Steering Issue TSB 08-074-20 (for "Improved Steering Feel")

Great post! Wonderful dogs! Our Golden is Morgan. She loves being in the Jeep JLU. At one point we had 3 at once....goldens.
  13. 2019 JLU dash display lights go dark/nav display too

Still have this problem. It was reported to the dealer several times. Dealer didn't help. "It's a Jeep Thing" Someone suggested going into U Connect settings. Did. Turned off the setting that turns the lights on when wipers start. No change. Didn't work. It's a safety thing. I'm concerned.
  14. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

I think the real issue is economics--cost to fix. Responsibility. After all steering gear has been around for a long time. I adjusted Volvo steering gear in 1972. It was easy.
  15. Sky one touch rattling..driving me nuts!

Had a friend who had been a Mercedes dealer. He suggested for rattles and wind leaks to take liquid glycerine (bought it at a drug store) and apply a bit to rubber seals on doors and such. I've done it ever since. It really works. He said that silicone might attack rubber. Glicerine was better.
  16. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

We have a culture where modifying Jeeps is cool. And it's really cool to modify a Jeep to make it stronger and more capable. What's not cool is paying to modify a Jeep to correct a problem that's in the design or making of a Jeep. When I worked at 3M Canada I was encouraged to ask questions as...
  17. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

First, it's not a handful or there would be a handful of posts here on this forum and the Gladiator forum. I started reading here 1 year and 7 months ago because of steering issues. I suggest you PM @JeepCares Too many of us have heard, "It's a Jeep Thing". If it was easy to fix they would...
  18. Redo of Steering TSB 08-074-20

Russ there are countless posts here on the forum about the steering gear replacement. A lot of people have had problems. Now there's a new TSB and it adds the track bar and alignment after. My steering gear was replaced. It's about an 80% fix. It doesn't steer out of lane anymore. It has about...
  19. Sky one touch rattling..driving me nuts!

First--I'm in Canada. So Jeep Canada is a different company. When I escalated my problem to FCA Jeep Canada Customer Care things happened. It helped that I had talked here to @JeepCares Second--The first dealer claims insurance won't allow it. We found another dealer that does service work...
  20. Sky one touch rattling..driving me nuts!

I had issues with the selling dealer not confirming problems with the Wrangler. Turns out their service drive was only 6 minutes long, at low speed on smooth roads. I wish they would allow me to ride along to show the tech when problems occur. Like highway speed for steering issues.... Dave
