  1. Using Dryer 220 outlet for Level 2 charger

I would guess that if the Jeep will charge at 32 amps normally in 2 hours then it would take a little less than 3 hours at 24 amps. Still way better than $2500. 24 amps X 240 volt= about 5.76 KW an hour vs 7.68 KW an hour for the 32 amps. They do slow down a little when topping off the...
  2. Using Dryer 220 outlet for Level 2 charger

Most dryer outlets are only 30 amps so about the best you could charge would be 24 amps. The Grizzl-e has settings for 16-24-32-40 amps.
  3. 4xE Order Status??

I am not sure. Supposedly mine was shipped in mid April. Jeep chat is completely worthless unless you want to get cut and paste answers. All they can and have been saying is that it is shipped and don't have an ETA to dealer. The dealer just keeps updating the ETA but not much else. I...
  4. 4xE Order Status??

Starting to get a little frustrated. Ordered on Feb 10th Was told it would be delivered in early May. Knew that was a long shot. 4-12 was told that on May 5th it would be in the Utah holding yard. Keep in mind this is still two weeks away from its destination in Idaho. 4-25 told...
  5. 4xE Order Status??

I just got an update from my dealer. Going to Idaho. Originally supposed to be in Idaho in early April. Then was supposed to be in Utah on the 7th, last week it was the 15th and today it's the 22nd. Starting to feel like I'm at the airport and the plane is going to be late. Just keep...
  6. 53.6 MPG in a Wrangler 4XE?!?!

It is economical for them to do so only because they don't have much of a choice and they are getting massive government subsidies. Someday batteries will be a reality but for now the government allows them to operate very inefficiently. I used to operate what were at the time the two...
  7. 53.6 MPG in a Wrangler 4XE?!?!

I am sitting in the control room of a natural gas power plant right now. Things are going to get interesting the next few years. Wind and solar are coming but right now they are causing some serious disruptions in the system. One of our problems here in California right now is we have a...
  8. 53.6 MPG in a Wrangler 4XE?!?!

Sounds about right. I think the decision to buy an "electric" vehicle is pretty much different for everyone. For me we get a very good rate, for California anyway, if we charge at night. I have not really seen any free charging stations and the ones I have seen are all way more expensive...
  9. Public Charging?

Unless you are going to be someplace for hours I don't really see the point of public charging either. It just seems like al a lot of hassle for what amounts to about a gallon of gas. Also unless it is free I have yet to see a place that would cost less than gas and most considerably more.
  10. 4xE Order Status??

I hate to say it but that email would of only pissed me off. Pretty sure it is the same cut and paste email they sent to 50 other people. You would think if it has a Vin they should know exactly where it is.
  11. 4XE - Worse mileage than other motors (after battery depleted)?

I have been a little tough of people buying these thinking they are saving the world but I do think they will have advantages for some people. While I am happily going to accept the $7500 I don't think it is very good policy. For Jeep to get better mileage I think they would of had to go...
  12. 4XE - Worse mileage than other motors (after battery depleted)?

Excellent post. Lots of great information there. Looks to me that you got about 26.4 mpg at the pump but some was electric. For me that amount of electricity would cost about what half a gallon of gas costs. Still effectively about 25 mpg equivalent cost for the trip. I think you...
  13. 4XE - Worse mileage than other motors (after battery depleted)?

I would love to see your numbers but I would also love to see someone post their MPG using numbers at the pump. I have never seen a trip computer that was not a little optimistic with their numbers. Just curious how close the computer and real life are going to be.
  14. 4xE Order Status??

I just contacted the dealer today about mine. It was supposed to be in Salt Lake City on the 5th but now on the 15th. Probably two weeks after that to the dealer, if it does not get pushed back again. Just bought plane tickets for the first week in June. We will see. I knew...
  15. Bonus Drive $250 check.

I am eligible through my employer. Now if my Jeep ever shows up. Just got pushed back 10 more days. Starting to get a little frustrated. Thanks for the heads up though. Found money is always good.
  16. 4XE - Worse mileage than other motors (after battery depleted)?

To me the 17.2 MPG in E save is not that surprising. I just don't think the 4xe is really designed to run in it. More of a trick if you want to run off road in all electric. Basically you have the same 2.0 motor with about 800 more pounds in the Wrangler. You also have an engine using...
  17. 4xe J1772 adaptor at campsite

I have no idea how KOA has those wired but what you described is a normal 240v circuit. If you run a volt meter between the two hot legs you would get 240 volts. Volt meter between either hot leg and the neutral you would get 120 volts. Only way you would not get 240v would be if both...
  18. 4xe Dealer MSRP Discount vs. Actual Sticker wayyy off

That sucks and I understand wanting to vent. I am actually surprised they would pull something like that this day and age. To easy to get eaten alive by internet reviews. I guess it is good the manager finally came over and was "honest" but would of been a lot better if they would not of...
  19. Anyone else getting really weird MPG estimates.

My way of figuring a conversion for electric "mpg" to gas mpg is to multiply your cost per kw by 15 and that should get your pretty close to and equivalent price per gallon of gas. Not exact but close. Curious Skippy what utility do you use that is 100% renewable? Did not think any...
  20. 4XE Rear Seat Legroom

Very good. Thanks for that. I actually like that the rear seats are a little higher. One thing I noticed sitting in the back. I am also guessing that the 18" on the xe seat will actually be more comfortable. We have a Rav4 and I hate the seats being so short. In reality your leg room...
