  1. Fuel Filler Discriminator, Ecodiesel

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but the ebay link above doesn’t seem to work. Will this be a suitable sub? It’s infuriating that I can’t fill my jeep from a fuel storage tank...
  2. Wiring Ham and GMRS in my JL

ok, let's cover the "gear" part first: 2020 Ecodiesel Wrangler Rubicon, in the rare Bikini color Kenwood TM-D710GA (VHF/UHF Amateur Bands) Midland MXT400 (UHF GMRS) 2 Comet CA-2X4SR Mobile VHF/UHF Vertical Antennas CA-2X4SR (yes, works with GMRS). I also got the antenna spring with them...
  3. Post Your 3.0 Pics

Holy crap! I thought I was using hyperbole! They're not painting ANY Wranglers in Bikini Pearlcoat for 2021.
  4. Post Your 3.0 Pics

Nice to see another Bikini Ecodiesel owner. I’m fairly certain there’s less than 10 in existence!
  5. Ham Radio Install w/ Pics **Update 3 Years Later**

not a stupid question. But, FCC only allows certain radios (under Part 95) to operate in the GMRS band. Ham-approved and GMRS-approved radios do NOT overlap. Yes, some chinese radios permit you to spill into GMRS/FRS bands, but it’s technically illegal (although NEVER enforced). As a licensed...
  6. Ham Radio Install w/ Pics **Update 3 Years Later**

Yeah, I was considering mentioning this. I "solved" this by mounting my Comet antennas (One for Ham, other for GMRS) with Comet lip mounts at the midpoint along each side of the hood. That keeps good distance for RF issues. As a guy who got brain damage in the military due to RF issues...
  7. Ham Radio Install w/ Pics **Update 3 Years Later**

Nice. Where did you pass it through firewall?
  8. 2020 JLU diesel skid plates

I'm fairly certain you need to special order it. I'm not sure how much the Tribe-16 folks are on here.
  9. 2020 JLU diesel skid plates

    I'd say 40-50lbs. It's beefy, that's for sure.
  10. Three cheers for Tribe-16's custom DEF/exhaust body armor!

I’m really curious about this. Would that have any effect on mileage or EGR? I’m not super smart about the ED engine (yet), but my understanding is that the exhaust design played a critical role in the engine tune.
  11. Three cheers for Tribe-16's custom DEF/exhaust body armor!

no other pics, but here’s a video of someone else installing theirs. I think they have a slightly earlier design, but it’s generally the same.
  12. Three cheers for Tribe-16's custom DEF/exhaust body armor!

Gas/Exhaust armor isn't all that different, just the mounting dimensions, usually. One thing I will say, the "armoring" that Jeep gives you for that section in the Rubi is pretty lame. My muffler, and probably my DEF tank, would have been utterly destroyed had I not installed that armor. Best...
  13. My Cheap Essential Offroading Equipment / Gear List

no. Not "completely non-relevant." Reviewers review stuff. He Even creates a list of recommended products AND sells them with an affiliate fee on Amazon. Good for him, it’s not like he hides it. That wasn’t my point. You simply dismissed the value of everything he promotes, which is patently...
  14. My Cheap Essential Offroading Equipment / Gear List

jealous, or do you have a legitimate issue with what he recommends? Anybody that does monetized videos on youtube is shilling something, so your statement is pretty vacuous.
  15. My Cheap Essential Offroading Equipment / Gear List

I have a large chunk of things I've built up over a few trail runs. I will tell you that I _generally_ drag along the same stuff that Brad (Trail Recon) hauls around. This video is a great start, but he has GOBS of great videos. A word of warning: Adjust your gear for the duration of your...
  16. Three cheers for Tribe-16's custom DEF/exhaust body armor!

Finally took my ecodiesel out on the trails today (Hidden Falls Adventure Park, near Austin). A bunch of us vets got together to hit the trails, and we hit them HARD. This was the first time I had my Jeep offroad. I had stock Rubi suspension but I also had 35s (Falken Wildpeak AT3W on Fuel...
  17. Bye bye Bikini for 2021 model year? [Confirmed]

My wife said that was funny to read (she's Japanese :) )
  18. Wanting to trim wheel weight....looking for recommendations...

Thanks! That was kind of my concern. I think should just stick to rolling with 33" Rubi pull-offs on the road, then bump to the 35s on my planned offroading adventures.
  19. Wanting to trim wheel weight....looking for recommendations...

They're 17s. To be honest, I'm hoping that trimming a bit of weight will help some of the handling, esp with braking. Admittedly, 10lbs doesn't seem like much, but when it's 10lbs off each wheel, it adds up. Honestly, the smart option would be to just get someone's Rubicon pull-offs and drive...
