  1. Weighing In . . .

what a difference a year makes in rolling off the assembly line . . . :crying: That's just weird.
  2. Would you buy another 3.0L EcoDiesel? Why? Why not?

Yeah, I had a brain fart. Single turbo on the EcoDiesel.
  3. Would you buy another 3.0L EcoDiesel? Why? Why not?

oops! Sorry, I guess its just habit since I've always owned twin turbo six's in the past (1990 Nissan 300ZX and 2007 BMW 335is)
  4. Would you buy another 3.0L EcoDiesel? Why? Why not?

The twin turbo diesel is a beast at elevation, the power is amazing!
  5. Weighing In . . .

Yeah, but I've got to include me, my wife, edc & recovery gear, AND five 37" wheel/tires, etc. I'm planning on towing a 3500 lb trailer (10% tongue weight on the bumper) . . . that will easily put me over 6100 lbs. I may have to consider carrying the spare tire on the trailer when towing . . .
  6. Weighing In . . .

I intend to modify my rig with the gear I need to enjoy myself with. That said, I do not want to intentionally exceed the limitations specified by the manufacturer. I'm a mechanical engineer with an extensive background in aviation and know that manufacturers published limitations are to be...
  7. Southeast fuel shortage...

While I have owned a fully electric vehicle for several years now, I am certainly NOT an advocate for them in a general sense. Limited range without a prolonged downtime in order to recharge being my biggest concern. I use(d) my EV as a commuter vehicle in an urban environment and it does well...
  8. Southeast fuel shortage...

I'm not charging off the battery bank. The battery bank only serves to make the inverters think they're still on the grid. The inverters together with the panels create all my electrical power during the day.
  9. Southeast fuel shortage...

My battery bank cost less $4K
  10. Weighing In . . .

The GAWR for each axle is shown as 3100 lbs. But the door sticker also clearly states that payload should never exceed 850 lb. While I think the diesel Rubicon could handle the additional weight, I don't think its wise to exceed the manufacturer's specifications.
  11. Southeast fuel shortage...

Net cost was $35K for 64 solar panels . . . the rest of the system gets a bit muddy due to its Frankenstein nature and how it grew. The tech has changed dramatically just since my system went active. I have a no-maintenance battery bank (non lithium) and a 20kW generator. The generator is...
  12. Southeast fuel shortage...

I'm certainly not inviting an argument here, but I have an off-grid home in Arizona and I charge my fully electric 2014 Ford Focus BEV and have done so for over 5 years now.
  13. Weighing In . . .

Undoubtedly. Will start investigating alternatives that will work with the back-up censors on the rear bumper. I may also start investigating removal of one of the rear seats and replacing a flat loading floor.
  14. Weighing In . . .

I know others have already placed their rigs on a truck scale to get accurate weight records of their modifications, but it seems as though the data is spread across multiple threads. Knowing that diesels are 400-600 pounds heavier than non-diesels and the resultant hit they take on payload...
  15. MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

I just got back home from my weekend project . . . I went to look at a few different models of "ruggedized" teardrop trailers. Unfortunately, I cannot find what I'm looking for locally, so I had to hit the road in order to see the models I'm interested in. In any event, the trip home was more...
  16. MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

I'm pretty impressed with the EcoDiesel performance . . . power and economy.
  17. MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

    Today’s update on this road trip . . .
  18. MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

I’m rolling on stock 33” tires
  19. MPG and Range on the Ecodiesel

I know the smell occurred during a regen because my instantaneous fuel economy dropped from 30+ mph to something like 18 mpg while on level and smooth (love our AZ highways) pavement. I’m only now approaching 8k miles on the odometer after 9 months of ownership, and I’ve added more than 7...
