  1. Axle upgrade for 2020 Rubicon JLU with 37" tires?

Thanks for the tag. I do run Dana chromoly in the rear and RCV (2 piece) in the front. My stock rears were twisted, but not too bad, when I changed them out. The fronts seemed fine when I pulled them. So far so good on this setup with 37’s. Only been about 13 months, 15,000 miles, and I think...
  2. That 6MT transmission: I really like it!

Yes, free agency is a wonderful thing
  3. That 6MT transmission: I really like it!

I fully recognize I'm in the minority in my opinion. I also am not a professional rock crawler. I do rock crawl a lot however. I feel it is a tremendous safety advantage offroad. I will admit that many of the reasons why I prefer a manual offroad is due to me being more comfortable with a...
  4. 38's & 40's JL Pics W/Lift Kit! Post Em Up

Its not mine, but I believe it’s a RK 4.5” lift with coil overs in the front.
  5. Kmc XD231 beadlock bolts

I check the torque on mine after a trail most of the time. I haven’t come across a loose one yet. Only about a year of use on mine though. I get the concern about over tightening with anti seize but I really didn’t want them rusting tight. (Colorado) I used a small dab on each bolt. Who knows, I...
  6. Kmc XD231 beadlock bolts

I antiseized my threads as well. Also can confirm that the stock lugs will not work. They have a different taper than the KMC wheels. I use the gorilla splined nuts and they work well. Is there room for a hex bolt plus a socket in the beadlock ring? It’s hard to tell in the picture and I can’t...
  7. Soft top usage options

Safari or all the way down. Mostly Safari though. Hate the sun on my head (so do the kids). Favorite is Safari + doors off.
  8. Official Denver Area Group

Im going to Buena Vista a couple days in advance to ride atvs with my kids. They got tired of dad doing all the driving like happens in the Jeep. Depending on if people want to join we could coordinate a time. Would be nice to meet at the trailhead 9:30ish and beat potential crowds.
  9. Official Denver Area Group

Colorado people - I'm doing Chinaman's Gulch trail on May 15th. Shoot me a private message if you'd like to meet up. So far its my family and one other family going. Kids ranging from age 3 to 14 but they are all conditioned to off-roading. If you haven't done this trail before you are missing...

  11. Trail Around Denver - Mid May

I'll be doing Chinaman's gulch on May 15th. It will be my young family and one other young family going. Anyone is welcome to come along. Chinaman's is an awesome trail, definitely one of my favorites. Plus you can watch others attempt carnage canyon which is insane.
  12. Icon weld on sliders

These look great! Post back how they hold up after taking some good hits. I'm still bitter about how poorly the LOD Destroyers held up for me. They were bolt on, but the mounting arm length from the frame to the slider is about the same length as these ICONs. I had an internal debate about how...
  13. Best ball joints out there

I haven't replaced ball joints yet (27,000 miles, 12k on 35's, 15k on 37's/beadlocks) but wanted to comment on the install of RCV's. I installed RCV's without removing the knuckles. I completely agree that if you wanted to do ball joints as well that it is a convenient time to do it. However...
  14. Selec-Speed Control vs Hill-Descent Control (Solved)

I've regeared mine to 4.88's, but in my Rubicon in low range and leaving it in 1st gear, it stays very in control and slow down steep inclines. Where the brakes get used a lot is in the technical stuff. Stuff you can't just cruise down. Like a series of ledges for example where you basically...
  15. People suck......

Going back like 17 years, I sold a college text book on eBay. It had pictures and an accurate description. However, I had typed in the books ISBN number in the additional item details section and eBay used that to automatically add additional item details. I didn’t catch that eBay tagged it as...
  16. Selec-Speed Control vs Hill-Descent Control (Solved)

Here’s a pic of my 2019 Rubicon 6 speed dash so you can see how they handle the button.
  17. Selec-Speed Control vs Hill-Descent Control (Solved)

I'm pretty ignorant to these systems seeing as I'm a stubborn manual transmission driver. The system as you describe sounds pretty intelligent. The question I have is when do you actually use it? (not the base speed control, referring to the advanced stability features described) If its a...
  18. That 6MT transmission: I really like it!

Love it. I’ve currently got like 9 pairs. I love Red Wing boots about as much as I love Jeeps. A date night with my wife taking the Jeep and both of us wearing our matching RW 875’s is about as good as it gets. Bonus points if we’re heading out fly fishing.
  19. That 6MT transmission: I really like it!

I'm 6' tall but I'm all legs and I'm typically wearing Red Wing Heritage boots with the thick traction tread soles that make you feel like a foot taller. (exaggerating obviously) I get it, those that like the dead pedal really like the dead pedal. Just like those of us that like a manual...
