  1. Members old and new -- check in and wave hello!

Took delivery of my white 2018 JLUR in May 2018, I’ve really enjoyed the vehicle. I’ve only put about 15K miles on it as it’s one of several vehicles we own. I’m now retired so we moved it from the Boston area to our winter home on St. Croix (USVI) last November so it’s now enjoying a tropical...
  2. XM radio reception poll

My reception is actually very good and the sound system is also excellent.
  3. New 2020 Land Rover Defender vs Jeep JL Wrangler

Nice video! It will take some sales away from the JLUR. The big questions are always reliability and repair costs.
  4. City With Highest Concentration of Wranglers?

My wife and I have a winter home on St. Croix. I'll be shipping down my JLUR in early 2021 once I retire. We already have our Cherokee Trailhawk on the island, which my wife really likes it because it's easier for her to get in and out of. Agree the numbers of Wranglers (and Jeeps in general)...
  5. City With Highest Concentration of Wranglers?

USVI, while only a little more than 100K people it has tons of Wranglers, lots of beaches, hills and National Park space. I think any Vacation Island will be a magnet for Wranglers.
  6. Official EPA Fuel Economy For 2020 Jeep Wrangler Ecodiesel: 22/29/25 MPG

In In my entire life (and I'm 63) I've never see an individual buy a car/truck/suv/motorbike on total cost of ownership. Cheapest, fastest, biggest, best looking, best milage, yes. Lowest total of ownership, never. They may try and rationalize the total cost of ownership but as they say...
  7. What did you PARK NEXT to in your Jeep today?

Is that a real ‘Boat Tailed’ Auburn? They’re extremely rare if it is. Wasn’t wearing an Historic or Antique plate.
  8. Unfortunately in the market for a new JLUR

Glad you're okay, the Jeep can be replaced. Based on the pictures, the jeep held up really well in what looks like substantial damage to the other vehicle. Good luck in finding a replacement vehicle, Wrangler or otherwise.
  9. What was your previous daily driver?

Here’s my other daily driver, I know I’m supposed to post previous daily drivers but I don’t have a photo of my old BMW X3. Don’t ever remember taking a picture of it. I generally keep cars a long time (10 years on average). I had a 2001 Boxster S for 17 years before the Lotus. My X3 was a...
  10. Trading 19 Ram1500 for 20 gladiator!!

Tough love. I was in my early 60’s before I started buying new vehicles. My kids College education was paid for (no loans) and my retirement fund in good shape. Being disciplined and frugal are not bad things. I live by the motto: Discipline = Freedom.
  11. Trading 19 Ram1500 for 20 gladiator!!

I may have been misunderstood, I’m in no way advocating buying a transportation appliance or buying the cheapest car out there. I’m simply pointing out a simple fact, trading in an almost new car is costly to the buyer. I buy relatively expensive cars, and not necessarily practical ones, but I...
  12. 2018 Wrangler Caught Fire!!

1st call your insurance company, this should have been done immediately. The fire department must also have been involved and I imagine the police as well. Get copies of their reports and give them to your insurance company. If the car is totaled, this post sounds that way, then Jeep can do...
  13. Are paddle shifters too much to ask?

I had a 2011 BMW X3 with the so called M Package that included paddle shifters. I used them 3 or 4 times in 6 years of ownership. My 2018 JLUR is much less sporty or performance oriented than the BMW. Bottom line for me, they wouldn’t get used.
  14. Trading 19 Ram1500 for 20 gladiator!!

I will never understand trading in what is effectively a new vehicle (that you don’t have a complaint with) for another new vehicle. My comment is purely financially motivated. There is no question the only winner is the dealer, and maybe FCA. Just my opinion. I sincerely hope you enjoy the...
  15. What do you think of this color?

The only thing that matters is, do you like it. If yes, then it’s great. If your partner or kids don’t like it, that makes things a little more complicated. Total strangers don’t get a vote in my book.
  16. Oops I did it again

Join the club, although it took me a bit longer. Bought out JLUR in early 2018, then added a Grand Cherokee in January of this year and finely added our Cherokee Trailhawk in May. Each is very different yet has its own appeal. My wife seems to like the Cherokee the best, partly because it’s...
  17. I no longer have the Fever

So much of what I've read in this thread boils down to poorly run dealerships that are not customer focused. The post sale dealer experience has a huge impact on customer satisfaction. Where I live I've had bad experiences with my local Porsche dealer, very good experiences with my local BMW...
  18. People that have gone from "sporty" rides to a Wrangler... be honest now... do you regret it?

I've always believed you can't replace something you enjoy with something else you also enjoy. The fact remains you enjoy two different things, which is fine, maybe even healthy. I been fortunate because I have been able to have two cars for the past 20 years. At the same time I keep cars for...
  19. 2 Part Question

We have a 2018 JLUR, a 2019 Grand Cherokee Summit and a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk Elite. Of these three I enjoy driving the JLUR the most, as long as it's not highway driving. On the highway the Grand Cherokee Summit is the clear winner. The vehicles I had before the Jeeps were a 2011 BMW X3...
  20. Washed key fob- Now acting up, anyone know how to reprogram?

Update: I took my Wrangler in for it's normal service and showed them the bizarre behavior of the key fob, they replaced it, no questions asked. I did't offer any details.
