  1. What devices have you plugged into backseat outlet?

I wired my trailer lights to a cigarette plug and use the rear 12v socket when I am hauling something, unplug it when I'm not. Mostly because I was too lazy to route a 12v line bow to stern for the once in a blue moon I hook up a trailer to my Jeep.
  2. Recall Notice 21V-028 [1/28/21]: Manual Transmission / Clutch Overheat Covers All 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers Produced by January 22, 2021

I've long speculated that is the reason some folks think everything is peachy with their MTs (4.10 vs 3.45 gears). If I drive like I'm racing (over-revving between shifts), I can get smooth shifts... But I don't have a Jeep to race it... and it's a piss poor design choice to match 3.45s with a...

Hey, I had a manual '97 ranger with over 200k miles too! And, yes, even though the transmission whined in every gear but 4th, it shifted much better than the JL. But, your "two stage" remarks are really the crux of the problem.. it's like the clutch pedal return spring kicks in hard before the...
  4. Recall Notice 21V-028 [1/28/21]: Manual Transmission / Clutch Overheat Covers All 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers Produced by January 22, 2021

I have both. I hate autos in general, but the JL auto is the first I've ever driven that I actually like (not that it's thrilling, but I don't feel like it's always working against me). In contrast, this manual is the worst MT I've ever driven... Ignoring the mechanical failures/recalls, it...
  5. Why was this JL only forum developed?

    That's actually true though.
  6. Recall Notice 21V-028 [1/28/21]: Manual Transmission / Clutch Overheat Covers All 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers Produced by January 22, 2021

yeah, I don't know which one (or both?) actually failed on mine, the dealer replaced them both. Good to know they're not difficult to replace outside of the bleed procedure, but.. I'm good enough at figuring those kinds of things out.

I hope it's...
  8. Recall Notice 21V-028 [1/28/21]: Manual Transmission / Clutch Overheat Covers All 2018-2021 Jeep Wranglers Produced by January 22, 2021

My clutch cylinder failed at 13K. I've read of a few others failing at lower miles as well. I'm not sure what's involved with replacing it, but.. I'm not looking forward to finding out when my warranty expires.
  9. Half Doors

Subscribing for @AllMoparParts.com half-door parts list. And, like.. bonus points for indicating which parts we can cannibalize from our full doors.
  10. Infrastructure Repair to be funded by " miles driven " Tax

Strong rural Internet (Starlink?) and some pandemic-induced shifts in employer mindsets ("hey, we are more profitable without this huge office space") can make living outside of urban centers practical without a commute. I'm not disagreeing with you about a mileage tax hitting rural America...
  11. Infrastructure Repair to be funded by " miles driven " Tax

Oregon has gone to a "reverse gas guzzler" tax on vehicle registrations. The better your gas mileage (per the original EPA numbers), the more you pay for the registration.
  12. Newbie question

Generally speaking, larger tires will make a vehicle feel more sluggish accelerating, driving uphill, towing, etc. Folks regear to compensate for that. Think of it like this... going to larger tires makes 1st gear act more like 2nd gear (not as extreme, but, you get the idea), so regearing...
  13. Remote–Proximity Keyless–Entry

Yes, but you could probably turn around and sell those half doors for a profit to some desperate soul on these forums!
  14. Stock Jeep Support Group

Do tires really count as mods? It's a wear part! Nobody would call your Jeep modified if you change out brake pads, right? Shocks wear out too, so, clearly those aren't mods either. Same with light bulbs! Wheels... Well, how many people have a set of winter wheels and tires? Is that a mod...
  15. Help me understand how my clutch pedal failed...

The bite point is really the bigger problem than the pedal feel. I don't know exactly how it all works, but it feels like the clutch pedal has two stages. There's the range of motion from the floor up to about 70% of pedal travel, then the last 30%, where the return spring kind of "kicks in"...
  16. Help me understand how my clutch pedal failed...

If it makes you feel any better, the automatic is terrific, and you haven't signed any papers yet! I prefer manuals, but I enjoy driving my wife's AT Willys much more than I do rowing gears with this screwball clutch. Maybe I'm just weird about how I shift... but so too are plenty of other...
  17. Help me understand how my clutch pedal failed...

It is very light, but it was noticably lighter when it started to crap out... enough so that I didn't make it more than a few blocks before I immediately turned around back home.
  18. Help me understand how my clutch pedal failed...

Master and slave replaced. Seems to shift better than it has in the past, though, hard to tell for sure. I feel like previously the bite point was towards the end of the pedal travel previously and it's nearer to the start of the pedal travel now. If that's true (I have no idea why it would...
  19. 2 door vs. 4 door sales

This is like the ol JK Mopar conversion, or the one from gr8tops.. https://gr8tops.com/shop/jeepmodels/jk-wrangler/jeep-wrangler-jkute-truck-conversion-kit It's priced out of my budget, even if they made one for the JL, but I love the idea. Truthfully, your idea of the rear half doors, seat...
  20. Help me understand how my clutch pedal failed...

After service appointment #2, all they did was bleed & refill the hydraulics. It was working ok for 100 miles or so, then, right in the middle of the road, the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and wouldn't move, couldn't shift into gear. Fortunately, I was on a slow speed residential road...
