I'm looking forward to finding out about this too. The photos from the New Zealand press drive seems like it was all up in the mountains but I hope they got some regular road time too so we can hear about these more every day aspects such as ride comfort and noise.
You're in for a treat... there's all sorts of aftermarket locking storage options for the Wrangler. These are just a few examples.
Rifle locker in trunk
Handgun locker in center console
General storage covers/drawers/etc.
So true. And if they made any more changes than this to the styling, you'd have MUCH more people upset. This is the one car that you want to take a risk on making too little changes, not too many :) It's like the 911.. can't mess too much with an icon.
Personally I think the changes look...
The JL style grille looks great. Really like how its outside shape tapers towards the bottom.
I don't see fender vents on the Safari though. I think those are air compressor connections. Which is damn cool too.
The ones on the prototype look only slightly higher than these. All the better since it'll be even more visible in car's rear views.
The JL front end with the LED light strips in the front part of the fenders and LED headlights will look good amount more modern than the JK.
Curious, what issues were you having with your Wrangler besides water leaks? What year/model did you have? Mine has been going strong for almost 80k miles besides the oil cooler leaking years back.
Btw agreed about the water leaks but I'd think that will for sure be addressed by this new roof...
Haven't ordered a new car in a lonnng time. A few ordering questions.
When will order banks open for the JL / JLU?
Are all specs and pricing revealed by time order banks open?
How far in advance of order banks opening are specs and pricing revealed?
I think it would be a mistake for Ford to NOT make a 4 door. Purists will complain and hopefully they also offer a 2 door but the sales don't lie. They need to make a 4 door if they want it to be a volume seller.
I doubt we'll see a SVT Bronco anytime soon. I'm not saying I wouldnt be curious to see it made but from a business stand point there's not a proven market for it if they are going after Wrangler buyers who are very price conscious and prefer to do the modding themselves. IMO at most we'll see...
As it is the T tops have to be stood up and strapped to the back seats to truly "fit" without making the trunk space unusable. With 3 equal sized panels it would take up even more space.
I doubt they will come up with a way to store and lock up. There's just not enough cargo space. They could...
