  1. Some good news for JL Wrangler diesel!

Instant max torque doesn't interest you? It seems to be to cover all the draws of a diesel especially for a vehicle such as the Wrangler that spends most of its life off road or in stop/go/low-rev or crawling situations. If you're doing a lot of highway driving the advantages start shifting...
  2. Unwrapped 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU from production plant!

Probably because Jeep is correcting to the JK's factory rake which many have tried to fix either with a lift or leveling kit. I'm sure the flatter hood will be a little worse for aero but the grille is also larger and allow air to flow through it, possibly working together with the fender vent...
  3. QTDDTOT: Questions that don't deserve their own thread

Better towing will depend on a lot of factors and improved power, torque, better gearing, braking and beefed up axles and suspension should all go to increased towing capacity. We've already seen some of this will be built into the JL, if not standard then as an added option. It can only help...
  4. Tipster says 6 engines and several top options for 2018 Wrangler JL / JLU

The article makes it sound like this is launch info. It would be awesome to know that the diesel offerings will be available at the outset, I wish whoever tipped this said something about timing.
  5. First Look: Production Interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU!

The JK dash for the most part can withstand your typical rain storm. It is water resistant but the electronics especially are not "waterproof" in the sense that it can't be submerged in water. That's just a fact of life Jeep can't change. A hard storm that throws heavy wind/rain in all...
  6. First Look: Production Interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU!

Aside from the chrome accents, I don't see how it is much different than the upper trim JK's interior. It's not like it has a full leather dash. It looks like softer plastics are used which in my experience is actually easier to clean and traps less dirt than the hard pebbled plastic variety...
  7. Diesel Wrangler JLU Prototype Caught Testing?

"Bit of dark smoke" is far from definitive but I'll take any glimmer of hope that the diesel is earmarked for the 2018 MY, even if slightly delayed.
  8. Should I wait for 2018 Wrangler?

Yep ditto that. The current Pentastar leaves a lot to be desired. Diesel or updated 3.6 for me, assuming it is significantly improved in power and mileage.
  9. What don't you want to see in the 2018 Wrangler?

Diesel delayed until past 2018 calendar year.
  10. Two new spottings today

They look like 16" to me too. They should continue to offer a 16" option and even a 15" for the best off-road performance when aired down. 16's obviously give you more sidewall than the 17, they fit perfectly and don't rub the brake calipers (at least on the JK). You are more limited in tire...
  11. First Look: New Wrangler Roof With MySky-Like Power Retractable Top

I know more than a few people who would be interested in a retractable roof. Added weight would be the only concern. Jeep should offer clear/glass panels to let in light when it's closed, but I'm sure the aftermarket would be happy to fill that order if they don't. I know there's been rumors of...
  12. JLU rear side windows previewed on Jeep Safari Concept?

Also we know that isn't the sport bar/frame location from the rear leaked image. It's even farther back in the trunk than the JKU
  13. JLU rear side windows previewed on Jeep Safari Concept?

I was taking a closer look at the Jeep Safari concept that they showed at Moab since it looks it's previewing a bunch of JL parts. here's the rear shot showing clear glass along the sides ending right by the tailgate I remembered something from the spy pics especially in this shot...
  14. Manley: 2018 Wrangler reveal might come at special event

It's been ready for a long time, even the JT apparently. Probably just dialing it in at this point but the exterior is long finished if they want to show it off. I think they will wait until closer to order banks opening. Why potentially impact current Wrangler sales for no reason?
  15. What is a mild hybrid Wrangler?

The mild hybrid will be cheaper and weigh less compared to the full HEV. These 2 factors alone make me surprised Jeep has plans for a full hybrid JL by 2022.
  16. JL Wrangler vs New Ford Bronco

And how did the FJ do? The reason it is out of production is directly because it was marketed as a direct Wrangler competitor and it failed in that respect. I didn't say anywhere that the Everest could not off road. I said it would fail as a Wrangler competitor (if Ford chooses to bill it as a...
  17. JL Wrangler vs New Ford Bronco

This isn't the 70's anymore. Any new vehicle will share platforms and the fact is it will be based off the Ford Everest sold abroad. Which means it will fail as a Wrangler competitor. Whether or not it actually sells in numbers is a different story.
  18. Our New Jeep Wrangler (2018+) Unlimited and Pickup Preview Renderings

I wouldn't worry. JT is going to have a much larger bed, over 5 ft. A real pickup truck and one that isnt such a Wrangler carbon copy as shown in the renders. What needs to be done right is everything you don't see. Payload, towing capacity.
  19. The Internet's biggest Jeep nerds, Haha!

Lol we'll take that as a compliment. What is that the 5th time I've seen this site mentioned in a major publication. Well deserved for those renderings.
  20. Our New Jeep Wrangler (2018+) Unlimited and Pickup Preview Renderings

Several people with intimate knowledge have said this is very close. We're getting there. FCA should be driving around more scantily clad JL prototypes soon.
