Thanks for the feedback @JimLee ! Glad to hear everything is working well for you :) @Hayseed_JLUR We have these systems in use in some of the hottest parts of the world (Australia, Middle East and AZ, NV etc) and there have been no reports of any negative effects caused by heat build up. We...
  5. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Great question! The cutouts are surrounded by foam weather stripping to help keep debris out. There is also an additional piece of weather stripping lower down on the panel to prevent contact with the vehicle hood. We do recommend adding the optional vehicle vinyl as an extra layer of...
  6. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Fair concern, however we have been testing these for the past couple years in Canadian winters and ice buildup has never been an issue on the JL panels! :like: If anything were to freeze in there it would melt off with the heat of the engine. But like I said we've had many panels survive the...
  7. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Great to hear the positive review! Unfortunately we were very limited in our design due to the complexity of the Rubicon hood. We got the most out of it that we could! We have certainly thought about a fender add on. This is something we might continue looking at in the future. :like:
  8. Vehicle Specific Solar System - JL/Gladiator Rubicon Hood Solar Panel - Starting at $199

You are correct, the output will vary due to light conditions. However, we regularly see peak output with all of our VSS panels, sometimes even above factory specs. We use some of the most efficient solar cells out there in order to maximize the panels output even in low light conditions. With a...
  9. Vehicle Specific Solar System - JL/Gladiator Rubicon Hood Solar Panel - Starting at $199

Unfortunately we cannot offer 15% off on our VSS Systems. The 15% of JL Forum code is valid on all of our winch accessories however!
  10. Vehicle Specific Solar System - JL/Gladiator Rubicon Hood Solar Panel - Starting at $199

As @beaups mentioned above you could charge accessories such as tablets, phones and computers. An average overland fridge/freezer draws between 1-2 amps. The 30 watt panel will provide ~1.7amps in peak conditions. :like:
  11. Vehicle Specific Solar System - JL/Gladiator Rubicon Hood Solar Panel - Starting at $199

No problem! It must the the angle of the photo making it hard to judge the exact specs of the panel. :) Rest assured that there is no chance of these coming up once they are installed. We've had them out in the wild worldwide for the past 2 years with no issues.
  12. Vehicle Specific Solar System - JL/Gladiator Rubicon Hood Solar Panel - Starting at $199

It may just be the angle of that picture but the panel is adhered solidly right around the edges. The panel is only about 4mm thick, there is no need to bevel it. We use a strip of 3M VHB around the perimeter of the panel. I guarantee there is NO way this will fly up and turn into a kite. We are...
  13. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Rubicon version is now available for pre-order! Check it out here: https://www.cascadia4x4.com/products/rubicon-wrangler-jl-and-gladiator-jt-vss-system-30-watt-hood-solar-panel

The long awaited Vehicle Specific Solar (VSS) System for the JL/JT Rubicon's is now available for pre-order! These kits will be shipping in September. We've done our best to maximize the available space on the Rubicon hood and have managed to get 30 watts out of the limited space available...
  15. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

@JimLee We recommend just washing the panel as you would the rest of the vehicle (soap and water). Thanks for all the tip's regarding using weights to help cure the tape in place. This is something we will certainly be including in future instructions.
  16. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

That's great! Looks awesome Steve. Thanks for the write up :like:
  17. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

The panels are very light they are only about 5 lbs. They are just 1/4" thick! They are built to be extremely rugged to withstand all the conditions encountered while off-roading!
  18. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

You bet! The 30 watt panel will be significantly cheaper than the standard panels. We hope to have more news on this in the next couple months.
  19. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Those should work perfect! Thanks Steve
  20. Sport Hood Mounted Vehicle Specific Solar System™ - Jeep JL & Gladiator

Keen Eye! Yes there is no longer a white logo on the panels. Instead our logo is molded into the junction box at the top of the panel. We don't offer a wiring extension kit, but this is something that could be done yourself if you are comfortable with splicing wires.
