Definitely a bait and switch to advertise one thing and then get shutdown by the epa...although I'm sure in a perfect scenario someone could hit 25 miles all electric...good example is the q5 plug in...they can go 28-29 miles but epa said otherwise. Will wait to see what big time reviewers can...
This is prob the cheapest way to electrify the wrangler...keep everything the same as the 4xe except for the extra batteries and the one main electric motor....I don't think they really care for being really efficient...efficient and off road capable doesn't go hand in hand if price is of concern.
Technically all a transmission need is a input shaft from a power source...doesn't really matter if it's from a regular engine crankshaft or an electric motor shaft. Would be easier to just replace the ice motor with electric and call it a day....wranglers do not to be speed demons so 300hp 500...
Yeah seems as though they just replaced the ICE with a larger electric motor which makes the most sense for an off-road vehicle. They can keep pretty much everything as is drivetrain wise...maybe beefier diffs from the added torque. Put batteries where the gas tank would've been and find other...
I feel the same way about the decals....the baby blue just looks too feminine to me... definitely would paint all the blue hooks black and change all the hood decals to a regular rubicon decal.
Is anyone worried about the reliability of this first gen 4xe wrangler? I'm on the fence between the JLUR 4xe vs a regular rubicon. For me I'm worried about the potential issues that might come buying from the first batch. Thoughts?
Wish there was an option to have a blue decal and blue hook delete...is it weird that's the only thing I don't like about the 4xe? Or the hump when seats are folded down...wish it were flush with rear cargo area. O well
When looking on the configurator i do not see a black hardtop option...why is it missing you think? or should that be the standard? it shows the soft top by default.
Looks to me they went down everything the Wrangler can do and tried to improve every aspect of it. Lots of big talk for the bronco...but the jeeps are tried and true, can't wait to see the head to head chaos once these become available. Bronco engine tho 310 hp and 400+tq ...damn they came out...
Sucks for those affected...but these are the kind of problems 1st Gen cars have. A self combustible vehicle is no bueno. I am currently dealing with a similar a recall with my M3, wiring harness issue too. I don't have any symtoms but it's kinda scary a car could catch fire just parked in your...
Now that we know what the EPA rating really is, on paper it's a decent improvement over the 3.6L. The 2.0L wont really save people money but would keep you from refilling up as often which to me is a big deal. I could potentially drive 50 miles longer without having to top up which is about 2...
Wow my 22/26 wasn't too far off...22/24 ain't bad I guess...not sure why the highway is about the same as the 3.6l...hopefully real world test show an improvement in this area, which seems to be the case with turbo engines in my experience.
Any oem manufacturer who builds a turbo engine correctly can have their motors in the 400 hp range easily with let's say a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine. They don't because of cost and protecting other cars in their lineup. Japan manufactures use to have a gentlemen's agreement to cap hp at 280hp, so...
Based on the current epa figures with this engine, the new Wrangler has to be better than 19/24. No car or truck is under 25 combine right now with this engine. Still waiting to see!
I'm waiting for a 2019 JLUR because first editions tends to have manufacturing bugs. Although they said they've put over 3 million test miles in research for the new JL, Those mules were hand built units, so making these in the tens thousands will always have first edition bugs. We will see!
