You might want to check out Exposed Racks. I have it mounted under soft top so always there, they have kayak holders that just snap in. I have hauled kayaks, and over 200# of lumber without a problem. They also can mount on the hard top https://www.smsparts.com
I did install myself, but not a Uconnect. I got the Heigh10 for about the same price as the Uconnect and it does pretty much everything the Uconnect did plus a lot more. No way I would buy a Uconnect on purpose.
no, they were 2 separate issues. Replacing the starter battery had no effect on the uconnect problems. My dealer has had 4 of the 8.4 systems do the same as mine in the past 3 months. Their reliability is very poor (as we all know from reading the forum.)
Sorry, but no easy cheap fix. I went with the heigh10. Not cheap, but 1000 x better than Uconnect unit. Love it. (Not to mention wireless CarPlay with a cheap dongle
You do lose a few things. The compass on the little screen above the steering. (You can choose other things to display). The Sirius weather map and extras that you get free for a while with the 8.4. But you gain better audio, multiple camera options, tpms and ess control (like a taser) and...
Yes, set TpMs and change when you want. Rear camera retains HD and has input for HD front camera if you want or can add 4 other SD cameras. Can set cameras to activate on turn signal or other input.
The stinger is a huge improvement over the 8.4. Besides losing the constant glitchiness of the OEM, you get better sound, ability to add amps, personalized wallpaper, some tazer like functions (remember setting of ESS, adjust tire sensor settings, etc.) Ability to add 4 cameras, good customer...
If I had it to do over again, I would not have gotten the 8.4. very glitchy. I'd go cheaper and replace immediately with the Heigh10 and sell the brand new OEM.
I bought a cheaper wireless CarPlay adapter ($84) and have been trying it out for several days. I can't speak for the OEM head unit, but on my Heigh10 it is seamless. Easy to set up, automatically reconnects after the heigh10 boots up, all CarPlay functions work (google maps, messaging, phone...
Good news for you Heigh10 owners! I bought a cheaper wireless CarPlay adapter ($84) and have been trying it out for several days. Easy to set up, automatically reconnects after the heigh10 boots up, all CarPlay functions work (google maps, messaging, phone, apple maps, podcasts, music, etc.)...
Hey @avnmech , I am really lost here. So you ran the + power on the red 'trigger' wire that is with the RCA plug and then to a ground on the front of the vehicle? So you did not connect to the 'trigger wire' on the heigh10, but instead to one of the "camera power" outputs? I wish I had a...
I routed wire for a front camera this weekend for my Heigh10. You only have to lower the windshield a small amount to have plenty of space to run the wires. I didn't have to remove my wipers. So easy.
Thanks so much. I ended up buying the same camera and mounted low also. Your mall-crawler cred is further enhanced by the to-go cup in the bumper hoop. Great looking Jeep!
Yes. Retains all 8.4 abilities (except compass on small display above steering) and adds stuff like ability to change tire pressure settings, ESS memory, etc
