  1. Catalytic Converter Theft Concerns

Certain vehicles are more valued by theives due to their precious metal content. Wranglers don’t seem to be getting hit. Hondas are getting hit hard. Wether or not yours is a hybrid has no bearing on the value of your catalytic converter. There are products on line that slow down or discourage...
  2. What are the chances my new 392 was a EJS Press vehicle

Northstar has been around for like 50 years. It's a small dealer and has always been in the same location. That says something for them. There is no sand like that in the San Antonio area to get into. I would say that is was probably driven on the factory test roads, which in March probably had...
  3. Orangepeel_JL Build Thread

Nice build. And your LP almost matches the color of your Jeep
  4. Who has found the best wipers ?

PIAA lasted the longest for me. They worked great for over a year. I have Trico Force blades on my F150. They started streaking after a couple months, so I soaked them in 303 like I saw on YouTube. It really worked and they still wipe very well after more than a year. I’ve had several sets of...
  5. Constantly asked why didn't I get a 4 door!!!! Anyone else?

If Jeep decided to build a 2 door on the Unlimited wheelbase, it should be called it a Commando. Too bad the Renegade name is being used on a Fiat with a Jeep name on it.
  6. Thoughts, Opinions, Suggestions, Advice last but not least Criticism

The BSG on the 3.6 will give you a little extra low range boost at elevation. You will probably spend most of your time below 7500’ anyway, you will be okay. The Rock Hard bumpers mentioned above are nice, and what I keep going back to when looking. As for the rest? Drive it around for awhile...
  7. White Letters Out?

My oldest Jeep still has raised white letters. My grandson has taken a liking to it.
  8. Constantly asked why didn't I get a 4 door!!!! Anyone else?

Buy and drive what you like. I can’t believe how many unyielding opinions are posted in this thread. The forum in general has quite a few posters whose opinion is “I made the best choices, your choices suck!” Shaking my head.
  9. Constantly asked why didn't I get a 4 door!!!! Anyone else?

I didn’t like the Wrangler name when it came out in ‘87. CJs went up through CJ10, so I guess they didn't want to continue with the numbering game. That picture above looks like an XJ Cherokee front end grafted/photoshopped onto a Wrangler.
  10. Willys Edition JL Club Thread

I put a fuel door on mine today. Can’t believe what a difference such a small thing cab make. As far as I can tell, it’s not even an option on the Willys
  11. Winches on Mall Crawlers?

I guess with a couple of pulleys mounted on a frame or in the garage, a winch could be used to remove the hardtop. Just don't be that guy with a 2,500 lb winch mounted to the bumper. There is a JK Wrangler I see everyday parked a suburban drive way, all set up for overlanding, tent awning...
  12. What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Put a fuel door on. Looks a lot better than the exposed gas cap. I bought one that says “FUEL” vs “Jeep” as it’s obvious that it’s a Jeep and has plenty of branding already
  13. Willys Edition JL Club Thread

I got my info from Jeep’s build and price. Chose Willys (not Willys Sport) and it shows LEDs as a separate option. Jeep is notorious for bad info on the web site though.
  14. Willys Edition JL Club Thread

No telling why the LEDS were taken out of the pkg. Just looked, it’s now a $1040 option for the LED headlight and foglight pkg! Around here, Willys seam to be out selling all other trims. If one shows up on the lot, it’s gone in a short time. As far as resale, have any of you seen what a used...
  15. Willys Edition JL Club Thread

Just for comparison purposes, today I found a Rubicon at a local dealer as closely equipped/similar to mine as possible, plastic bumper etc. The sticker was $47k and listed selling price was $44k. That’s $9k more than I paid for mine. I started out wanting a kinda plain Sport, like my JK was...
  16. Austin to South Dakota?

One hard day up. A stop in Salina, KS would be a good jumping off point for an easy drive the next day. Stayed in Wall, SD at a cool little vintage roadside motel that was very nice. Visit Wall Drug. A giant store that takes up most of 2 blocks. An odd combination of tourist trinkets and actual...
  17. Trektop Ultra for 2-door

Product for the Unlimited is also more limited than it is for the prior generation. This gen sells in greater numbers too.
  18. Jeep Adventure Academy Austin/San Antonio Event at Inks Ranch

It’s a great part of the state, tons of BnBs/vacation rentals in the Fredericksburg area. Nice little town with lots of shops and several wineries, distilleries and breweries in the area. It’s an easy day trip for me. I’d like to visit this granite course next time it’s open.
  19. Trektop Ultra for 2-door

Product for the JLs seems a lot more limited than it was/is for JKs. Maybe more need to hit the used market first.
  20. Porosity in chassis weld on new JL

I agree about having the dealer redo it. I would want a guy who welds daily and knows how to run a proper bead, which wire to use and how much argon. I would rather have the crappy robot weld than a mud dauber looking weld with spatter everywhere and possibly burn through. Get some black...
