  1. RUBICON RECON Edition JL Club Thread

Loving the Recons posted. Picked mine up about 2 months ago and just relocated for work... in the Mojave Desert. Great places for trails though.
  2. Jeep snobbery - RANT

Owning a Sahara is like living in Cleveland... Just kidding. I see it too. I just bought a JL Recon and because of how it looks, everyone assumes I never take it off road. It has the color matched top and fenders, 2” lift and 35’s. I keep it hella clean. It really surprises people to...
  3. 2019 JLU Rubi died twice trying to climb a small rock?? Battery wasn’t charging??

I actually tested this yesterday, Mosquito Pass, over 13,000 feet. The update seemed to work. Crossed the pass twice with no further issues.
  4. What tire pressure now with bigger tires?

X2 on the chalk test. with so many variations of tire size, rim width, etcetera... a chalk test will tell you where you need to be.
  5. No tire pressure showing after tire change

TPMS automatically resets, so you can rotate tires without reprogramming. Back in July, I had a flat in a rental Jeep on a long road trip and within 30 seconds After changing the tire, the TPMS system reset. Rented another Jeep two weeks ago (I hate rentals) while working out of towns and got...
  6. Warn tube doors (with pics)

They look great. Warn got the lines right. The Mopar have no mirror mounts... definitely on my springtime wish list.
  7. 2019 JLU Rubi died twice trying to climb a small rock?? Battery wasn’t charging??

@BDinTX - with Wranglers you are never alone. I'm chatting with my service rep today now that I have this info. This has to be the oddest thing I’ve heard as a problem, so situation specific. I’ve had a number of Jeeps over the years and always gotten fantastic support from the service...
  8. JLU Rubicon Auto: 35" and 37" - Regearing Math

When towing, you don’t want overdrive to engage regardless of gear range... Thats why trucks have a tow mode to disengage overdrive.
  9. JLU Rubicon Auto: 35" and 37" - Regearing Math

my high school Algebra Teacher was right, one day math will save the world. i loved the detail and the thought put into the OP. But I think it comes down to what you are trying to achieve. The original gearing equation is nominal. all three engines use either 3:73 or 4:10 (towing package)...
  10. Stop/Start Not Ready-Battery Charging

I would have said tucked away like a camel spider... too much time in the deserts of the Middle East... my understanding, all ESS Jeeps have secondary batteries (little ATV type). Manual transmissions wouldn’t have ESS and no secondary battery. I’m kinda torn on the ESS. I get the point...
  11. 2019 JLU Rubi died twice trying to climb a small rock?? Battery wasn’t charging??

First off, I’m glad I found this thread. It seems some 2.0 eTorque engines have this interesting little problem. I’ll be taking this information to the dealer. I had mine looked at Friday after having this same problem at over 10,000, in 4 low, uphill... Twice In a weekend. I thought it was...
  12. Just hit 400 miles on the odometer.

You buy it to wheel it. I drove off the showroom floor and into the mountains, up mosquito pass (13,185 ft).
  13. Quickest and safest way to go from 87 Octane to 91 Octane

Don’t take advice from me, you’ll end up drunk and naked in a park somewhere across town.
  14. Have your 2.0T? Post your pictures and impressions

Odd question... where’s this picture taken?
  15. Livernois Mycalibrator Tune Claims 50HP Gains (on E85) for V6 JL Wrangler

Drive to top of Mountain, reset economy... and then coast over 30 miles downhill. Voila! It felt great until I touched the gas pedal...
  16. Livernois Mycalibrator Tune Claims 50HP Gains (on E85) for V6 JL Wrangler

when I’m feeling bummed about my MPG, I drive to the top of Mt Evans (14,200ft) and coast downhill to Denver... in my 2016 I had that puppy up to 150 MPG for about 10 minutes... I’ll have to see if I still have a picture of that.
  17. 3.6L vs 2.0 turbo?? Pros and cons of both??

I went from a 2016 2.6 manual to a 2020 2.0 automatic. i rented a 2019 2.6 automatic for a couple weeks between the two. I have to admit that Im sold on the 2.0. Even on the trails it performs well and gets great MPG. It’s a solid drivetrain IMHO. Test drive ‘em and see which you prefer...
  18. New 2020 JLU Engine Replacement 2.0 Turbo

My 2016 needed to be rebuilt (2.6L Penstar valve issue) and I never noticed a thing after it was done. Dealers are no longer like they used to be. I’d get a new engine and keep loving the Jeep.
