Honestly that's pretty amazing compared to previous generations. I was debating eventually chopping the sport bar and putting in a cage but those braces seem like less of a ridiculous option after seeing a few of these things roll
Basically all my hinges at this point have a bubble or two, some are worse. Got a business card from my dealer for the body shop they deal with. Living in Ontario I've been waiting for the salt to stop going down before I take it in, probably gonna do that soon.
I'm thinking I'll pay them extra...
My buddy had one I got to drive once, limited experience but I really loved the thing. Left me with a kind of lingering love of volvos. Off topic but as a heavy duty mechanic I'm a Volvo fan for their class 8 trucks, they just ride and shift nicer than anything in their price bracket. a Pete or...
You do realize you're arguing with me by saying essentially the same thing right? Using power for things that are not moving the vehicle reduces the total distance you can move the vehicle. You can't refill a battery with go juice in less than a couple minutes. Super simple stuff here
Of course range is the limiting factor on BEVs, I more meant in the Wrangler's case aftermarket accessories and an incredibly varying use case create different range concerns. It all boils down to refueling anxiety as you say, with the Wrangler your max and minimum ranges are gonna be pretty far...
True, there would be no way to add additional energy to the system but it would be very easy to have the battery pack for the drivetrain charge the 12v system at a rate most alternators would have a hard time keeping up with. It'd reduce your range but limited 12v power would not be an issue...
Very interested to see what you find. I haven't done any UOAs on any of the fluids in the JL, changed the oil and gear oil at about 2000mi. Oil filter had some casting flash in it but nothing to be concerned about, no visible metal since. When I pulled the plug in the rear axle it was as...
Agreed anything that's mass produced has an accepted failure rate even. It's just what it is. The oil though idk kinda cloudy, maybe just short trips not getting all the condensation out. My oil gets pretty dark, much darker by the end of the OCI and a little over quart is consumed total, I top...
Wix filters are excellent, not surprising they'd have a good option for our engines. Good to know if I need one in a pinch. I just use the OEM because my dealer gives them to me at a pretty decent price, and I like talking to the parts guys every now and then
Probably just sloppy, I'd just clean it off and monitor the fluid level and if any new fluid comes out. If you're so inclined you could probably get them to do it if you went back, I usually advocate for as little dealer contact as possible though
My fluid level was slightly low after...
In a kinda nicer way to put it the transmission gearing is important as well. As well as engine power and where the torque curve actually is. With a Pentastar engine that really doesn't have it in the low end and a transmission with very wide gear spacing it makes a hell of a lot of sense to get...
Yeah I have a 6 speed on 285/75/r17s, stock sport 3.45s, highway life isn't great. The clutch already occasionally hates me crawling or backing into my weird parking space (I live in a neighborhood with very old houses). Recently took a promotion in another location but haven't moved yet, 200km...
Key programming is absolutely used to steal vehicles on a regular basis. However don't assume your door locks are doing anything for you.
You can also buy a vehicle unlock kit for about 100 bucks that'll get you into just about anything without leaving a mark. Not gonna post links or anything...
Obviously we have no clutch temperature sensor, just speculation but they probably use engine rpm, wheel speed and gear selection to determine if an unreasonable period of slip is occurring, and reduce torque based on that. I work on heavy trucks and that's essentially how all automated (usually...
Well the JL is really my first "nice" vehicle, I had a pos ford focus before. Ive always wanted a badass mustang, challenger or a Jeep. It came down to the JL, as with discount is was the same as a newer Jeep used, or this 2013 BOSS 302 in orange with under 30k km on it, super sexy car.
For...
It's really not that bad, just have decent tires and some common sense. It's infinitely better than every jeep made until they started added 2 more doors. Less wheelbase will affect stability, but respect what you're driving and you'll be fine.
Edit: It will probably not be as stable as a civic...
