  1. Big driving improvement after LCA swap

Maybe. The Sport/Sahara/Rubicon all have the same 24.0" long front LCAs, but the Rubicon is taller, from the factory, so its caster is compromised. Using Rubicon shocks may create a similar disparity for you. Download a free angle finder for your phone and measure to check. There are...
  2. 392 ? Hacking the 99 miles per hour limit ?

On the bright side, your YouTube video will get more views than this one: https://jalopnik.com/cars-and-coffee-dumbass-crash-season-is-here-again-wat-1846667793 There is literally a new one of these EVERY week. And...almost all of these are with cars with excellent handling characteristics...
  3. 392 ? Hacking the 99 miles per hour limit ?

I'm fairly sure that safety goes out the window at 99mph. And...the engine pushing it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Hopefully we won't see any 392s in the Cars & Coffee crash videos, but the good news is that the 392, with its ground clearance, will fair better than most when it...
  4. Oil Change...debacle

I couldn't agree more. We can all be assholes from time-to-time, but in the past we were able to keep it to ourselves more. In the last few years it became okay to "express ourselves" regardless of who it offends/hurts. I have no idea how we get back to normal from here. And...it has...
  5. Turbo Temperatures (for those monitoring)

Please let us know what you think of the Pedal Monster. I heard reviews for several throttle enhancers, but not that one.
  6. No Jeep waves here :(

The problem with the Jeep wave is that there are so many Wranglers on the road. The "kinship" feel works better with less ubiquitous vehicles. I gave it up a few years ago when the return wave percentage dropped (way) below 50%.
  7. I’ve decided to regear

I've noticed that the cost of DEF is sometimes trotted out when making an economic case against the diesel. [but...how do you place a financial value on torque?] In the big scheme of things, it seems like the cost of DEF (best case $25 for 10K miles) is barely worth mentioning. Am I missing...
  8. ESS and turbo cooldown?

I have mine defeated via Taser, but I'm curious if the ESS is sophisticated enough to sense when the turbo is too hot to shut down at stop lights.
  9. Modifying the 3.0 Engine and Exhaust to Delete Emissions, and Boost Power

This looks very interesting. Power gains while keeping emissions controls in place - a win/win.
  10. Having Dealership Add Mopar Lift and Larger Tires on Delivery

The best pricing I've seen at a dealer here in AZ is $1,244 (+tax) for the lift plus 3 hours at $140/hour for the labor. So...the OP's price is good. I always buy my tires from Discount Tire. They are HEAVY supporters of charity here in the valley and in their satellite cities. That's...
  11. Rubicon Diesel Test Drive (3rd time)

When I was younger, I always equated "power" to horsepower - just as you just did. Over time, and a lot of vehicles, I realized that torque is the "power" that puts a smile on your face. And...I learned that a seat-of-the-pants sensation is actually more impressive for everyday driving than a...
  12. Rubicon Diesel Test Drive (3rd time)

I think that people have trouble with the concept that your seat-of-the-pants dyno says "wow", while there actually is no power added. I think that it's a must have for the EcoDiesel.
  13. Rubicon Diesel Test Drive (3rd time)

  14. Rubicon Diesel Test Drive (3rd time)

The diesel has a slight hesitation from idle. Some of us are adding throttle enhancers to get rid of it. As a previous owner of two Pentastars, I can say that the EcoDiesel is way livelier at normal driving speeds.
  15. Door Hinge Chipping

She said that the video was very helpful, but, as I said, the baby shampoo was the game-changer:
  16. Door Hinge Chipping

Slightly off-topic: My daughter installed a JLU-specific hinge clear bra (<$50). They've been commercial carwashed and powerwashed - still 100% secure. She did the entirety of the rears and barrel only on the fronts. She said the trick to a bubble-free install is baby shampoo.
  17. Accidentally left EcoDiesel idling super long

Changed the oil yesterday. [I also had changed it at 1,000 miles]. I will warn you future EcoDiesel oil-changers that the oil filter is fussy about being seated correctly. After the initial start-up both times I've changed the oil I got a low oil pressure warning - which was solved by...
  18. Uconnect® abolute POS!! Stay away from it...

This is the kind of thread that potential Jeep buyers read and conclude that all Jeeps have UConnect problems. Even though the responses have been largely "mine works great", people tend to gravitate to the negative. I've already seen it over and over again regarding the EcoDiesel. Not to...
  19. Uconnect® abolute POS!! Stay away from it...

I've heard the same thing. I've never had any issues, but I do have to admit I did a double-take. I'm not used to Jeep being #1 at anything - except resale value. I'm a CR fan, but I was flummoxed by their ratings on the JL and JT. The JL got almost the worst possible rating on reliability...
  20. Accidentally left EcoDiesel idling super long

Hi John, are you suggesting ignoring (i.e. not worrying about) the oil damage issue, because it's likely okay, or ignoring the snarky comment about the pleasure in watching me destroy my own Jeep? [which in all fairness was likely made as a well-intentioned, but poorly received, joke] BTW, I...
