  1. Bucket List Trip - Timing

I road tripped from Montana through Idaho, Oregon, northern California, southern California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas last August. Total trip time was about 2-1/2 weeks and I hammock camped about 80% of those evenings. The air quality was pretty bad at times due to the wild fires but the...
  2. JL Rubicon on Method Wheels...let's see em!

Absolutely no reason for spacers on an 8.5" wheel with 0 offset. I'm running 17x8.5 +0 Method wheels (not 701s but same specs) and true 35" tires with no lift and no rubbing whatsoever.
  3. Video: Procharger Supercharged 3.6 V6 JL Demonstrated

I haven't spoken to them about this so I don't want to put words in their mouth, but I'm sure if you were to self-install they could send you the tuning by mail, the same way they offer for a stock non-FI Pentastar. And, if you had access to a dyno locally you could probably arrange to have the...
  4. Bucket List Trip - Lots of Questions

I've never witnessed it firsthand, but I've heard of Park Rangers giving folks some grief for having a soft top in bear country. That said, I haven't heard it very often and only anecdotally. As for where to stash your stuff at night, the old adage is 100ft from camp and as high as you can get...
  5. Medical Kit Options for Family and Outdoors.

My family outings just consist of me and my dog, so my load out may be insufficient for you. However I've found over the last couple years that a couple MOLLE bags with first aid attached to my tailgate table works for me (one pouch for me, one for the dog). They're easily identifiable and...
  6. New product - ARB BASE rack system

The rack in the link you posted is the original ARB platform that's been available for the JL essentially since it came out. The BASE rack system is a totally different product.
  7. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

You can plug your VIN into this website and see any open recalls that are currently associated with your vehicle: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls/search.html The by-mail sheets that go out about recalls are historically quite slow to get to the end user. Usually I don't see the...
  8. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

As a means of atonement for being responsible for derailing the thread, I'll try and steer it back a bit by addressing this. The quick and direct answer to your question is, at this time, neither. These are the two (previously) offered Centerforce clutches for the JL. However both are...
  9. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

In some ways, I think you've made my argument for me. Where does the lack of desire for a manual transmission (reflected in low sales numbers) come from? Because the technology of the automatics has improved so much. They now have the power advantage, the speed/performance advantage, and the...
  10. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

Agreed. Is there a model more exemplary of the heritage of Jeep than a 2-door Willys in Sarge Green? Absolutely gorgeous.
  11. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

I KNEW I had seen that Jeep before! I think my mother had actually sent me a picture of that one when she was driving through Arizona. It's hilarious; at least the guys that built that Jeep had a sense of humor about them and knew other Jeepers were immediately going to look at the spare tire...
  12. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned flat land. My Jeep is also a Rubicon 4-door on 35's with the factory 4.10 gearing. I bought the Jeep last summer while I was spending time down in Texas selling a rental house. At sea level and nice and flat, I found 6th gear useable on...
  13. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

I share your frustration, and this is a somewhat cynical take but hey, it's 2021 and cynicism is so hot right now. This whole issue is due largely to the fact that the manual transmission is a near extinct piece of technology. I've already resigned myself to the idea that my current Jeep is...
  14. STOP ORDER on all Manual Jeeps [Update: software flash fix arrives in March]

With every other manual transmission vehicle I've owned, I fully agree with this. However I don't find it to be the case with this Jeep, as the torque profile for this engine is totally wrong for the vehicle. It's so gutless below 2000rpm that my Jeep will rarely maintain a speed in 6th gear...
  15. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

Thanks Marc. The wheels are Method NV in 17x8.5 with 0 offset. The tires are 35x12.50R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs, which are a load range E tire (stiffer ride, but 10ply sidewall which has greater puncture resistance).
  16. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

I can only imagine the tailgate reinforcement that guy has in order to mount his spare... 🤪
  17. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

Thanks buddy, it was a great trip. I haven't been doing much out in the backcountry the past couple months due to life circumstances, but I fully intend for Bear and I to spend some more quality time in Evelyn this year, of which I'll document and keep that thread updated on. I'm perfectly...
  18. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

Great looking Jeep! The Falken's are, if I'm not mistaken, the optional M/T upgrade you can select when ordering the Jeep new. I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority of Rubicons ship with the base KO2's. The Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires have gotten a bunch of attention recently (at least in...
  19. SARGE GREEN Wrangler JL Club

The Rubicon's come from the factory with 285/70R17 (33x10.50) KO2's. You could probably hit your local Craigslist and find a set of Rubicon take-offs for pretty cheap.
  20. Bumpers and Tube Doors NOT made in China?

JCR is made in Michigan from US sourced steel, if I'm not mistaken.
