  1. OFF ROAD PAGES - What Version does your JL/JLU currently have?

About a year ago I manually updated my 8.4 via usb drive. I got off road pages for about 5 minutes then it disappeared, never to return. Yesterday i got the ota update. This morning, I HAD OFF-ROAD PAGES! Five minutes later it disappeared and has yet to return...
  2. 3.6L ESS Aux Battery Bypass

I will say that I have new respect for the aux battery. I was having voltage issues and I thought my aux was on its way out. I did the bypass but still had issues. Interestingly, both my main and aux battery failed load test, but my main battery was definitely very shot. I was able to keep going...
  3. Centerforce Clutch Installed on JL Rubicon

CF is sending me one too. I had no unusual noises or issues. I have been dealing with the clutch disc rubbing on the flywheel and not fully disengaging. This could be the result of an inconsistent transmission input shaft or an installer error (me). I didn't have mopar specified spline grease...
  4. JL Rubicon Bright White Owners Please Post Pics w/ Aftermarket wheels & Tires

You don't worry about tearing up those wheels off road?
  5. JLUR stock suspension, stock wheels, will 35’s fit without rubbing at full flex?

I run 37" KO2s on stock wheels with no lift. They DO rub at full stuff with sway bar disconnected, but not enough to pop off a fender or do any real damage. I have 1.75" wheel spacers, but I got them just because I like the look of the tires popped out a bit and didn't want to have to change...
  6. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Nice Sami. I have an 87 with a spring over and revolver shackles. Super flexy but worthless on the street. I started a 1.6 conversion a decade ago and haven't made much progress...
  7. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Conditions vary, but I like to see a top wheel speed of 20mph roughly for soft sand. I run 4Lo and usually use gears 3-5. I don't have big dunes but if I'm climbing I usually stick to 3rd and try to avoid having to change. Stock 4.10 gears and 37s for reference. A non-Rubicon will need to run...
  8. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Precisely my point. It would take some extreme slipping for am extended period to reach 1100 degrees. As experienced drivers, you recognized the issue before it became more serious. Even inexperienced drivers though would be unable to mistake the level of slippage (and smoke and smell) necessary...
  9. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Actually, the hydraulics are not in play in the video. Clutch pressure comes from the mechanical finger springs. Hydraulics are only used to open the clutch when changing gears. And yes, a worn out clutch slipping while in gear can generate some pretty intense heat. Normal clutches generate...
  10. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

It's true there may be reasons why these clutches wore out too soon, and operator error may have played a role. The bottom line is though, that ALL clutches eventually wear out. You might make it a million miles, but they all eventually wear out. When they do, you most often notice slippage in...
  11. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

My heavy flywheel has by far been my favorite upgrade. Stock 1st gear, my Jeep would buck and surge if left to idle across a parking lot. Now smooth as butter, 2-high it can slowly creep across open spaces and climb small obstacles without touching the skinny pedal. I can reverse up a steep(ish)...
  12. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

I've driven some vehicles with clutches you have to stand on. Within a few months you have a muscled and toned left leg and a not-so-impressive right leg... Yeah, not the case here. I have the dual friction and there was no real discernable increase in effort.
  13. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

As I mentioned, you would have to ignore the gear grinding and leave your clutch foot down while simultaneously holding down the gas and brakes to cause any real damage
  14. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Well, the only repair for a slipping clutch is replacement. I guess it will give you enough power to limp to the nearest repair shop?
  15. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Nice demonstration of what I'm talking about. Air in the line results in a funky pedal feel, but most noticeable, difficulty getting into gear, crunching between gears, or your Jeep still creeping forward with pedal pressed in. Even if you had this air in the line, and you had to hold your foot...
  16. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Thanks for the update, however I would have to point out that air in the hydraulic clutch system DOES NOT result in clutch slippage, and even at a light with the clutch held down, could only generate a minimal amount of friction related heat.
  17. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

It's a twin disc clutch. As you release the pedal it grips a clutch inside the pressure plate. That clutch is splined to the disc we can see which then applies pressure between the outer part of the pressure plate and the actual Flywheel. Theoretically the pressure is applied evenly and you...
  18. Clutch Recall (FCA W12 | 20V-124) on 2018-2020 JL Manuals [overheating clutch pressure plate]

Technically it spins at engine rpm. Force is the same revved up in neutral as it would be at 100 mph in 3rd or 4th
