I would LOVE to know if the back up lights actually let you see at night ; also, those black plastic "things" on the side of rear lights, are they blind spot sensors ?
Rain Gutters ! Roof Racks ! Yippee ! Flat Top Fenders !!

I actually prefer the unpolished, more matte look. Maybe they offer both?

I'm not seeing anything in the wheel well that indicates the side vent will be venting the wheel well. Anyone else see something im missing?

I wonder, when the JK was in the state of pre-introduction the JL is now, how many things people got wrong about the final product--if any--due to deliberate misdirection on Chrysler's part, (now FCA) as they slowly unwrapped it back a decade ago.

Does FCA simply hide what they don't want to show, or create deliberate misdirects that we the public get wrong?

Looks like clear tailights will be an option. It was on the red Rubi posted earlier but not on this one or the Sahara.
Also, parking sensor holes are visible on the rear bumper.

Nah uh. Looks like the vent, at least from these particular shots, is cosmetic. But it's still too soon to tell. Likewise, the hard top doesn't look like it's really any different than the JK save for the styling.

JL Changes
  • The spare tire appears to have been lowered for improved rear visibility.
  • The trunk handle is now inline with the rear lights.
  • The rear bumper has a more interesting, aerodynamic design.
  • The rear window appears to be larger.
  • The fenders clearly have a higher rise than the JK's.
  • The roof appears to have a bit of a 'lip'
  • The backup camera peaks its head out from the center of the tire.

Does the fact that all the grilles are black mean they are moving away from body-color grilles or is this just a function of them being test mules?

looks to me like the rear handle is in the same place and that they moved the tail lights down.

Looks like tape on the grills to me.

There's plenty of room in the JL grill to install "traditional" grill lights. Not a Problem at all. A Jeep is a blank slate; don't like something, Change it. THAT'S Jeep DNA. Making it "yours". Not crying and stamping feet because you disagree.
I not only agree, and for the most part like the new design (also recognizing that sometimes we don't like change simply because it's change and we have to get use to it) but, at least on this point I have to come to FCA's defense. It's impossible to create a vehicle everyone loves, even among Wrangler enthusiasts.

I'm sure FCA did a lot of work trying to figure out what the masses wanted. For those unhappy, especially if they are a large enough group, the aftermarket (within reason) invariably comes to the rescue--particularly if it's cosmetic changes.

I'm not sure I'm digging that split rear bumper yet. But love the top of the cap and that little spoiler over the hinges.

The fenders flares look a little different on the black one vs the red one. I wonder if the are painted option looks like the black one and the silver one we have seen and non painted more like the red one?
