I started looking into aftermarket LED lights since my new shorty bumper has no provision to reuse the factory fog lamps. There’s cheap LED lights that seem to all come from the same place despite the various off-brand names. Then there’s the high-end LED lights that get rave reviews but are way beyond my budget for a fog light substitute.
At about $50 each for the lamps only or $125 for the 2-light kit with relay, the Hella LEDs hit the sweet spot for me. These lamps also use 1 watt less than the factory halogen fogs so I was able use the existing fog light circuit.
It’s not real well documented, but these Hella LEDs have an “accent” lamp. Thanks to tips in the DRL thread by @blnewt, I used a fuse tap (Bussman BP-HHTR-RP from a local Autozone) to tie into fuse 54 so the accent lamp is on with the engine running.
Amber covers are on order so I’ll have options for the look of these LEDs.
