Bought my son a ‘15 Honda Civic EX back in April. 3,000 miles later the “check airbag system” light went on. Dealership says it’s a short in the airbag inflator. Part is $900. Labor another $150. They say their Honda rep is on vacation until 1/2, and that I have to wait until he’s back to see if Honda might cover some/all of the repair. (These parts are not wear and tear items and should never need replacing unless the airbag is deployed.)
I’m itchy waiting until 1/2, if they can even get through to the rep on that day.
The dealership charged me $167 to diagnose this.
Anyone know if there’s a JeepCares type thing for Honda that I should leverage to make sure I get a decision sooner than later? Obviously I won’t let my son drive with no airbags, even though his grandmother says, “you grew up without airbags, what’s the big deal?” Ugh... dealership says if I just pay it then there’s no way Honda will agree to reimburse me.
