Cost to Replace Jeep JL Backup Camera?

Hi all,

I managed to scratch the out edge of the lens of my backup camera dying my install of a rear tailgate reinforcement kit. I haven’t tested to see what kind of impact (if any) to the visuals has occurred, but assuming worst case, how much is it to replace just the tiny camera piece that fits inside the lens tube?

I scratched the lens, but the video and picture quality hasn’t been impacted. No need to replace the camera, but I’m so glad you posted that site!

I know...It's an old thread. I know...Dreadnought never wound up ordering the camera... But that's not the correct part number for the 2018 Jeep JL rear view camera.

I bought a used one from a junk yard for $50 thinking they were like $200-300 from the dealer, but if I knew they were only $60 new, I would have went that route.
(working on a combo reverse camera/3rd brake light for a spare tire delete project and wanted a 2nd camera to play with.)

My rear view camera lens got scratched somehow and I just ordered the replacement. Was this a complicated install or pretty straightforward?

Super simple install, just don't force anything, like I did when I pulled the cable out of the camera and tore the cable. Use the torx screwdriver to unscrew the camera from the brace and then the plug just clips on/off super easy and screw in the camera to the brace and then reattach the brace and re attach spare, good to go!

I installed the new camera today and when I went to test it I got a blue screen. It was connected well. Did you have to reset Uconnect / battery to get it to work?

If you got the blue screen the connection is not good. do you have it connected on the inside of the tailgate?

Luckily the connections were all fine. I took it off battery for a few minutes and after reconnecting everything worked fine!

does anyone know the part number for the wiring harness itself? I shredded mine when it got caught under the washer on my tire carrier. I've searched for the part number on multiple sites, but they all just want to put the part number for the camera itself.

Hey guys just a heads up I believe the part number has been replaced. For anyone wanting to replace the camera.

Mine got scratched when putting the rim on and it was messing with the sensors.
