Haven't had time lately to make a new video of Kali and I's adventures but I have been able to take some time to try to refine my photography skills so I thought I would share. Please let me know what you think!

The first 3 are around Storrs CT on a few random dirt roads and pull offs that I found last weekend. The 4th picture was at Bigelow Hollow State Park which had a few dirt roads connecting a ton of gorgeous hiking trails that was a great google find! The next 4 were from Bolton Notch State Park, a ton of biking and hiking trails with some scenic dirt roads to get to different starting points (great if you want a scenic 10 or so mile bike loop). The last 3 are from a small state park near me called Salt Rock State Park, its my favorite place to take Kali if we only have an hour or so because its like 15 minutes down the road from us and has a few nice "trails" (unkept dirt roads) between its camp sites. It isn't as big as somewhere like Pachaug State Forest but its super close and does the job lol.

All in all, not a ton of "off-roading" in CT but through a lot of random wondering I think that all of those places are definitely worth a look if you're in the area!

THANK YOU! We are very into hiking, and photography as well thus why seeing these great pics you took makes us want to wander around and check out new places in eastern CT - but you are correct there is no "Off-Roading" in CT

How I got the Jeep Bug:

When I was a teenager I grew up watching movies like the fast and the furious so naturally my first car looked a little something like this....

I know... I know embarrassing... it’s okay you can continue laughing... but at the time that car was the dream haha. Eventually that dream uh blew up. The transmission that is... Honda’s, reliability... 102k on the clock... perfect.

ANYWAYS... Fast forward a few years of maturity (well not totally) and a few cars later to when I’m a sophomore in college. I just got my motorcycle license and I bought a Ninja 250.

Long story short, about 6 months into owning the bike, I was coming home from work and going around a pretty sharp right handed corner when a truck in front of me decided it would be a great time to not put on his blinker and turn onto a street at the apex of the turn. Little to my knowledge the guy driving who must have been missing an arm (not hitting his blinker) was also blind because a car was coming around the corner in the other lane! He hit is breaks, the truck hit theirs and now wouldn’t you know it, there is now a white wall of Ford F-150 in front of me... needless to say I dumped the bike (right hand turn, breaks are on right side, all weight on the breaks, and yeah the breaks on the 250 didn’t stand a chance) but thankfully I was able to do so into the grass and I only sustained some minor injuries.

After that incident I kind of realized two things, one I need a bike with better breaks, and two sometimes you need that open air feel without the risk.

So I sold my Eclipse, I guess I was still living the Tokyo Drift dream:

And picked up this beauty!

That Jeep and I had a hell of a time! I loved having a vehicle that could go anywhere, do anything, and put a smile on your face even if you’re just putting around town.

I owned that Jeep for the rest of my time in college and then eventually parted ways with it once I was a few months into my engineering career and saw this at a local dealership:

I wanted to go fast again and this, unlike my first car was the fast and the furious dream.

I drove this car for about a year and uh well let’s just say that got expensive... what you can’t see in the pictures is that this car had over 500 break horse power and was an absolute monster! As they say though... “with great power comes great” financial irresponsibility. And eventually I had enough and decided to save money, sell the Evo, get an economy car for a little while and then go back to what I loved more than going fast in the first place, a Jeep!

Love the jeep walking the dog photo. Nice work on your photography. Keep up the experiments :) I started photography when I was 16. The first shot is from my first year.

Now I'm 34. 18 years experience helps a bit ;)

Wow.... something to definitely aim for! Where is that second shot!? At first glance it looks like mountain tops above the clouds but then looking closer it looks like you're on a beach right?

Yeah that shot is northern CA coast (just south of the Redwood Forest). Took 2 hours set up, 45 minutes of shooting, 200 shots, hours of prep and figuring out exactly where to be for lining up the sunset with the rocks. This shot is a 1-2 minute exposure, waves providing the misty floor. Fun times :)

Forum Sponsor @Threedom now has High Definition (HD) PIT BULL Badges, Wiper Arm Caps and Key Lock Caps. Side view face and the detail on them is terrific.

Here is a poor pic of the offering.... the pic does no justice to the actual detail on the offering..

Love this thread! We have 2 rescues, both out of Houston. Per the doggie genetic test one is pure Pit, one is about 80%. Loads of fun, and love romping around. Neither are huge fans of car rides, however riding in the Jeep topless is clearly having a positive impact on em. They are totally spoiled…but they both had rough starts so they both deserve some pampering

This is Kali's sister from another mister, Jello. She loves going for rides, but has not been in the Jeep due to he not being able to get into it on her own. She's an old girl, and just turned 11 on December 2. She was rescued as a stray in South Los Angeles at 6 months old and was sick. We adopted her at 10 months and have had her in our lives since.
