UConnect 5 Crashes with iOS 12.1.x

Whenever plugging any iOS 12.x device into any media ports the UConnect 5” in my JL Sport crashes within playing 1-2 songs and resets time to 12:00am. This happens while driving or stopped.

Bluetooth audio streaming works fine.

DriveUConnect.com says the VIN is up to date for firmware.

@JeepCares any help ?

I have this same issue with my JLSU. However, now the Bluetooth is starting to do the same thing. Also have an appointment for my second steering damper....

This issue persisted into iOS13. We simply gave up and used Bluetooth exclusively. Today, we got a firmware update which seems t to have resolved the issue. Gratuitous photo of my son's JL Sport:

FYI! My JLU did the same thing. All the same starting symptoms. It finally started to get worse. I noticed that the clock would not hold the correct time. It would drift a minute or two each day. The 5 inch would let a very loud pop noise out through all the speakers. It would then crash. It would take about 5 minutes and then come back on. The clock reset. The radio AM/FM would act like the antenna wasn’t connected. Very week signal! The Satellite radio worked fine. The uconnect would not connect anymore. The dealership ordered a new radio. It will be installed soon.

We had all the same symptoms in my son's JL Sport. Firmware update yesterday fixed it.

The dealership tried the firmware update. It made the radio crash even harder. The shop Forman came out an apologized and said “Normally the update will fix this problem. Unfortunately your radio doesn’t like it.”I’m glad it worked for your son’s.

Sorry to hear that. As a guy with a lot of computer technology experience, I can't say something like this is unheard of. Hope the new radio works out.

Thanks! Unfortunately I am still waiting for the radio to come in. The dealership ordered the radio specifically by the VIN. A Totally different radio came in. The dealership did some more test on the radio in my Jeep. They said that it doesn’t even recognize the antenna or any Bluetooth item now. Satellite radio is now starting to act up. Ugh! I hope it gets fixed soon.

My phone auto updated last night to 13.1.2 and now my system is resetting. I’ve been reading about all the crap with ios13 and said to myself I was going to hold off but apparently the mothership setting was left on by me.
Can’t even carry on a phone conversation.. Now a $30 Lyft ride back from the dealer twice to get an update.

My Sport is at the dealer to fix the popping and resetting radio. They said they updated it and now the radio wont turn off. At all. They said they are going to order a new radio. At least I got a loaner base renegade. The radio in the renegade is way better!!

@bamchenry I seem to be having the same issue, everything works fine including bluetooth streaming... until I plug the iphone in. I would say it doesn't take it two minutes before it completely resets. Uconnect website also shows that firmware is up to date.. so there must be a newer firmware the dealer has access to since yours also showed up to date? Taking it in next week and hopefully it is resolved.

So I’ve been dealing with this for the year and a half I’ve had my JL. Multiple UConnect and Jeep tickets. Every time the same answer, update, which doesn’t work. I’ve opened another ticket recently, and they gave me the same runaround. This time I’m not accepting anything other than Jeep making this right, either getting it working or an aftermarket upgrade. Every ticket is always the same, is the software updated, don’t update my iPhone, blah, blah, like they don’t read any previous entries. I have 2 ‘18 JL’s and they both do the same thing, so it’s a Jeep issue they need to make right. I’m considering looking in to class-action if they don’t pull their heads out of their asses. Never had this issue with any of my Fords or Chevy’s.
